Captured along the alleyways of Mdina - What caught my eye was the good light & interaction of the people. Thank you for your time to view.

For the 'Smile on Saturday' theme: Emotions.

Found this 'Bacchus'-sign with his very big smile during my short stay in Ghent. I think you can say he is happy!

It's a dancing-nightclub, didn't visit it though, so I can't tell you if it is really fun ;-))

Happy weekend!

*Quand Bacchus pas content, lui toujours faire ainsi

Dionysus also spelled Dionysos, also called Bacchus, a nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation, especially known as a god of wine and ecstasy.

Wine was a religious focus in the cult of Dionysus and was his earthly incarnation. Wine could ease suffering, bring joy, and inspire divine madness.

If he somehow came to Pyles, he would probably like to be hosted here, with the green vine deeply rooted next to the blue door of the old stone house.

Richard Ohmann: Bacchus, Bronzeplastik, 1880

Richard Ohmann: Bacchus, bronze sculpture, 1880

From 1878 onwards, Ohmann was a master student of Reinhold Begas (1831-1911), the main representative of the Wilhelmine neo-baroque in Germany. During his study stay in Rome, Ohmann apparently created the model for this figure of the sleeping Bacchus in 1880. The casting then took place in Berlin. The sculpture has been in the Steglitz city park since 1957.

Lac de Come - Italie

A traditional fest near an abandoned village in Epirus, Greece.

This little grouping of grapes of all sorts really caught my eye! I love the ones that look like glass, or ice! SO pretty!

We enjoy just perusing the stuff at the auction because there is always a great disparity of what they often put together! A lamp and a pipe wrench, purses and shovels! I DO hate when the thing I hope to bid on is with other things I don't want! But- you have to bid to get it . . . ! I think we just enjoy seeing all the conglomeration of items! We often learn something new, as well! These were just views of some cool things we saw on Friday.

VanMassey.com is that online auction that we enjoy ALL the time! It is a pretty ride up into the hills of Tennessee to get to Fayetteville, TN. All bidding online, then pickup at their warehouse. AND while you are there, you can take a look at the next items they will auction the next week! SO fun!

Once in autumn. In the ancient settlement of Nymphaeum.

indulge me, friends.

here are my little fatties, bacchus (the mildy vigilant one) and kali (the snoozing one). pure american mutts, like myself. theyve got a few dna snips of boxer, pit, and lab in them. a tender 9 weeks old now, they doodle around the yard, shite wherever their bowels whim, and howl like damned when you leave their line of sight. i love em. their father weighed in at a hefty 174 lbs and an uncle pulled 240 lbs. they will be big dogs one day. theyve figured out the art of the sit, they get come (mostly), and they squirm like happiness when you come thru door. bacchus is the more contemplative one. he's got soulful eyes and takes his time (except with the dinner bowl), kali - which means among other things, She Who is Black or The Devourer of Time, is a step more intrepid. she's the smarter one of the pair, and though he has a few pounds on her, she consistently figures some new judo to toss him over for a gnawing.

anyways, im blathering. i just wanted to share our new dogs. forgive me for the unforgiveable sin of puppy posting.

cheers all.

Colorful vine terraces around Ihringen on a hazy autumn day.

Kaiserstuhl in South Germany is a small mountain range of volcanic origin but also a masterpiece of landscape architecture. People built hundreds of terraces for agriculture during the last centuries. First they were growing mainly corn, fruits and vegetables. Today 99% of the area is used for winegrowing. Bacchus would have loved it.
