Night Photography Made Easy by Mark A Paulda

Long exposure photography can create dynamic, and sometimes, surreal images full of motion. Whether there is a sense of tranquility, apprehension with regard to the unexpected, or an element of surprise, night images can also evoke a true sense of emotion.

Photographers who specialize in night photography are indeed a special breed. This should not be so surprising when one realizes how much in-depth understanding of light is necessary to capture that perfect photograph. Additionally, there are some rather basic tips any newbie night photographer should know. This, and more, will be covered in this edition of “After Hours Photography,” with a few night photography exercises tossed in to allow you to practice that which is covered. After all, practice - and I do mean a lot of it - will enable you to create magical night imagery!

First thing first, and that is - Know Your Camera! Whether shooting landscapes, or urban settings, trundle through the darkness not only looking for the perfect scene, but experimenting along the way. A thorough understanding of your camera, and what all of the buttons do, is essential for night photography. The last thing you will want, with little light with which to work, is to fumble with your camera and its controls. Not knowing can only make for stressful, difficult photography.

** Take a moment, and have a look at your camera controls. Pay close attention to the Mode Dial. This is where you will set how you will photograph.

LOCATION CHALLENGE : Photographers that choose to participate in the challenge can come over to my parcel, Noshinima's Neighborhood and do an image anywhere in my city. You will be allowed two hours to use any posestands or props that you would like to add and are allowed to bring any friends you want to join you in your shoot. You are also allowed to make the shoot as safe or as adult as you like. The only rule is that you do the shoot within the city block. Take your time to have a look around to see where in the block would make a great place for your image.

2) Upload the finished image onto Flickr and place the hashtag #NoshsHoodChallenge3 on either the title or the description.

3) YOU MUST TAG 10 PEOPLE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE TAKE THIS CHALLENGE ON YOUR UPLOAD OF YOUR SHOOT! NO MORE, NO LESS! I have had several people during previous challenges that have not followed this simple rule so I am making it ALLCAPS to get the point across. Discover The Magic Of Venice by Mark A Paulda

Five minutes after arriving on the main island of Venice I thought I was lost. In fact, I wondered if I'd find my way anywhere much less back to the hotel. The myriad of bridges over canals, the narrow alleys twisted, turned and led me around far too many corners then confused my sense of direction. I kept walking and picking out landmarks though there was no guarantee I'd return the same way.

Eventually, I arrived at St Mark's Square and this is when my heart melted. I fell in love. My love affair with Venice continues today and I've visited countless times. I still get turned around every so often though my heart doesn't race like that first time. Moving forward always lands me at or near the place I want to be.

My Best Suggestions To Discover The Magic of Venice ::

:: Take a water taxi from the airport to your hotel in Venice.

:: Take a vaporetto to San Giorgio then look back at the main island of Venice in awe.

:: Let out a deep sigh when you see the Bridge of Sighs

:: You'll think you're lost, but you're never lost in Venice. Toss your map and explore.

:: Be a tourist and go to the top of the Campanile in St Mark's Square. The view will astound you. If you're lucky you'll hear the bells of the Campanile up close and personal. They are gloriously loud.

☞ Viola sororia f. priceana is a variant of the common blue violet (Viola sororia), both native to eastern North America. The former is called a Confederate violet due to its colors reminiscent of a Confederate Civil War uniform, i.e., blue and gray.

☞ This is a closeup. The wildflowers were only one centimeter in diameter; they appear much larger in the image than they did in 'real' life.

☞ See the more abundant purple-hued violet variant: here. The two violet types often grow in propinquity.

Câu chuyện kể rằng đứa bé trên thế gian cam đảm bước vào rừng sâu, đi mãi đi mãi qua bao thác ghềnh với một trái tim dũng cảm sẽ tìm được loại cỏ bốn lá (four-leaf clover) - loại cỏ sẽ mang lại nụ cười hạnh phúc mãi mãi - nụ cười hạnh phúc của trẻ thơ. Khi tìm được ngọn cỏ bốn lá, đứa trẻ sẽ đứng trong gió, đặt ngọn cỏ vào trái tim nồng ấm và hát khúc ca đồng dao. Mỗi lá trên ngọn cỏ tượng trưng cho một thứ quý giá nhất của cuộc sống.

Lá thứ nhất đứa bé thì thầm: đó là niềm hi vọng
Lá thứ hai đứa bé mỉm cười: là niềm tin
Lá thứ ba : là tình yêu
Và lá cuối cùng: là sự may mắn.

Bốn món quà thượng đế ban tặng cho mỗi đứa trẻ khi chúng mới ra đời nhưng để tìm được chúng đứa trẻ ấy phải mãi đi tìm, tìm trong rừng sâu của cuộc đời với trái tim dũng cảm...Truyền thuyết vẫn tiếp tục đến ngày hôm nay, và truyền thuyết mãi là truyền thuyết vì mỗi đứa trẻ sinh ra lớn lên mãi đi tìm công danh và sự nghiệp nên chúng lãng quên con đường tìm đến với ngọn cỏ bốn lá mà thượng đế trao cho. Đến khi chúng vấp ngã, chúng mới nhớ đến khúc đồng dao của ngày xưa. Chúng thẫn thờ và than thở:

“Where is my four-leaf clover?”
Nhưng đứa trẻ đâu biết thượng đế trên cao đang mỉm cười:
Khi đứa trẻ đau vì vấp ngã, đó là tình yêu
Khi đứa trẻ tin rằng mình không cô độc khi vấp ngã, đó là niềm tin
Khi đứa trẻ nhìn thấy những đứa trẻ khác còn đau khổ hơn mình, đó là sự may mắn
Và khi đứa trẻ nghĩ rằng mình phải đứng dậy là đi tiếp, đó là niềm hi vọng
