battery power on my camera was low and it miscalculated a few things, but it forced me to play around with filters and I quite like the results
Batik was made as a demo for first graders, who made batiked fabric in my classes. Buttons were collected over 15 years.
A friend at work wears this necklace from time to time. Leigh Anne had a large collection of buttons from her mother and wasn't sure what to do with them, so her sister, Lisa, crocheted them into a necklace.
Button Necklace
Heavy cotton threadS = Small Button
Tatting needleM = Medium Button
34 small buttonsL = Large Button
18 medium buttons
1 large button
Chain 200 and return to single crochet (SC) in first 35 stitches. (This chain will now be referred to as the necklace.)
Row 1 - 1 button
In 21st stitch, 2 SC, loop in button, 2SC, return to necklace and SC in next four stitches.
Row 2 - 2 buttons
In next stitch, 2 SC, loop in button, 2 SC, loop in button, 2 SC and return to necklace and SC in next four stitches.
Successive rows guidelines:
SC in four stitches of necklace
2SC between graduating series of buttons
2SC to return to necklace
SC in four stitches of necklace

Finish necklace with SC to the end and the tie off with button and connect with opposite side’s loop and knot off.
This is for one of my showpieces, a natural brown coat with a bright teal alpaca collar. This is just a swatch showing the teal fiber in the upper left and the hand-painted silk lining which is felted into the wool on the upper right. The buttons are big! which is ok for a coat. These are dyed and shaped tagua nuts also.

I bought some what I would call basic fabric at Burgundy Buttons when they where having a big sale and I just could not pass these great fabrics up. With the price of face going up you have to jump on the sales. I had been doing so good up till this point. Basic Gray Grunge is my weakness. I love that fabric. I have a few others thrown in for good measure, but most of the pile is Basic Gray.

Thank you to Tanya for giving me such a fun baptismal theme to work with. BUTTONS!!! These are belgian chocolate cookie buttons, and the baby "thread" on them is made of royal icing.
