Was wandering around our wee town early one morning during the Balloon Festival when i took a few minutes to stare at the Trout in the burn - which were rising away when i saw the reflection i took a couple of shots with the Nikon which just didn't come out as well as the one i took on the iPhone - cheers

After many days of heavy rain my local burn had transformed itself - cascades thundering down a gorge.
I was teetering on the edge to get a good view up - it was not a river I wanted to swim in that day! But it certainly looked and sounded impressive.

A small burn (it's what stream's are called in Scotland) in the Scottish Highlands, tumbling its way over and around the rocks. And so ends my trip exploring Gleann an t-Slugain, but I will be back next year as it confirms I can definitely climb Ben Avon when the conditions are right.
Last evening the fire department had a controlled burn/training for new cadets. 19* out and Dave was gone for a good seven hours. I rode out for a few hours. One has to salute these men and women for their dedication.
The firemen in the lower right are actually allowing this house to burn. The practice fires are all out and the house was donated for destruction - so they allow it to burn down as a teaching session.

The Burns Monument
Built: 1831-39
This building commemorates Scotland’s National Poet Robert Burns (1759-96), and its modelled on the ancient Choragic Monument on Lysicrates in Athens
Alyth is a town in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.
The Burn of Alyth runs through the town with footbridges criss-crossing it.

Again I'm not a massive fan of themes with such a large scope as I find them difficult to narrow down. In fact talking to my partner about what I was doing she came with with about another 20 suggestions!!
What this did give me though was the opportunity to try out quite a few things. I fell foul of living at both ends of the country again because my zippo isn't 'here'!
So to catch a match just as it catches. Easy (really???). And I didn't even get through a whole box! Apparently they burn at around 800c - I think that qualifies as hot?!. And have a light temp of around 1500K which leads on to...
...strobist bit: 1 SB900 set to manual at 1/20, positioned to the left and firing toward the background. Using dark amber gel with WB set to tungston.
