Liked the color of the rocks there in the glen in this area. The different rock strata as you climb around the area is as neat as the all the waterfalls.

Vertical composition of this pretty waterfall showing the reddish colored rocks and patterns cut there by the flowing water and ice that forms in winter.

Trekking up Glen Lehigh in Ricketts Glen State Park from Waters Meet, B. Reynolds Falls is the second set of falls one encounters; though, from an imagery perspective, I would call it second to none. The unseasonably warm weather in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States has delayed the peak autumn color change. Before today this region has had very little rainfall, so the falls are not roaring at their full grandeur, but I was quite pleased with what I was able to capture.

B. Reynolds Falls is the seventh waterfall along the Glen Leigh branch of Kitchen Creek. The falls consist of a single plunging drop 22 feet in height, falling over an undercut cliff and splashing on a small bedrock bench at the base of the falls.

Ricketts Glen State Park is full of wonderful waterfalls. B Reynolds Falls is a fabulous water fall seen in the background. I like this capture of the falls below a downstream tumble, and this photo shown here is a stitch of two shots to show the nice foreground elements there that day.

Another of the wonderful falls from Ricketts Glen in Pennsylvania last year.

Today I finished the Pennsylvania part of the Eastern Waterfall Database, with entries for 192 waterfalls, including this one.

Ricketts State Park, Pennsylvania

After a heavy rain, B. Reynolds Falls was flowing very strongly on this mid-May day. The water was so loud that by the end of the day, I was ready for some quiet time in the car.

At parks such as Ricketts Glen, it is easy to find the waterfalls and the images that can be made directly from the trails can be very nice. But, getting off the trails often makes new (and often better) composition possible. Always be looking for new angles.

To get this particular image, I climbed down the rocks beside a small walking bridge and precariously positioned myself and the tripod legs on strongly-sloped wet rocks just above the water. I often place the tripod into the water for such shots, but ... that only works if the water flow is not strong enough to cause vibrations in the tripod. The final composition emphasizes a balance of the features contained with most lines moving toward the center of the frame.

Winter hike on the Falls Trail with my hiking and photography companion, Lori Deiter.

We hiked Glen Leigh (up to Shawnee Falls) and Ganoga Glen (up to Ganoga Falls). I quick-checked Adams Falls, but only snapped an iPhone pic of it.

4-image vertical pano taken with the LensBaby Composer using the soft-filter optic @ f/4.

It's tough to bring something back different when you shoot the same place over and over. I was kinda happy with the way this pano turned out.

I would suggest viewing this large :-)

First Spring hike on the Falls Trail... with Tim and Logan Devine. With it being Earth Day (and on the weekend) it was pretty crowded all day. Water flow was higher than my liking and we had to deal with light rain showers during the morning. But it is always great to get out and hike at RGSP.

Tim Devine mentioned that he was planning on heading to RGSP on Saturday and asked if I wanted to join him and his son, Logan. We watched the weather forecast and everything seemed to 'line up' for good shooting weather (clouds and light winds).

I usually shoot from underneath the foot bridge (I did on this visit as well). This one was taken off to the right side.

I have to admit that my first time hiking these series at the falls when I came upon the sign for this waterfall my first thought was the "Bandit" has a waterfall named after him.:) Water a great series of drops here at this waterfall. I have posted these first shots (one in color and the other B&W) that really show the details of the area. Lots of interesting compositions can be done here.

From today's hike with Lori Deiter. We arrived at the Route 118 parking lot just after 8am and hit the trail close to 8:30am

We hiked up to Mohawk Falls on Ganoga Glen, then worked our way down to Waters Meet.

Stopped at Wyandot and B. Reynolds on Glen Leigh before heading back down to the parking lot...

We had light snow, wind, sun and clouds... Ice is slowly building up on the trail and around the waterfalls.

B. Reynolds Falls was in full glory on this beautiful spring day. Found on the Glen Leigh portion of the Falls Trail at Ricketts Glen, B. Reynolds is one of the more photographed waterfalls at this amazing park.

Photo taken 5/29/13 at Ricketts Glen State Park near Red Rock Pennsylvania.

Lori Deiter and I made it to RGSP just after 8am...

We hiked from the Lake Rose parking lot down the Highland Trail, onto Glen Leigh, stopped at Waters Meet, continued on Ganoga Glen and back to the Lake Rose parking lot. Made it back to her vehicle around 1pm

Glen Leigh water flow is quite low, but Ganoga Glen seems to have a little bit more.
