Compositionally Challenged Week 18 - Minimalist

These came in a store-bought bouquet and are dyed this color.

emberrandt.blogspot.ca/2016/08/come-alive.html

You touch my hand

These colors come alive

In your heart and in your mind

I cross the borders of time

Leaving today behind to be with you again

We breath the air

Do you remember how you used to touch my hair?

You're not aware

Your hands keep still

You just don't know that I am here

It hurts too much

I pray now that soon you're released

To where you belong

Please say my name

Remember who I am

You will find me in the world of yesterday

You drift away again

Too far from where I am

When you ask me who I am

WITHIN TEMPTATION

Say My Name

Yesterday while mowing the lawn I finished listening to "When Breath Becomes Air" for the second time. Nothing like bawling your eyes out while walking behind a power mower. The book is such a beautiful testament to figuring out how to live a meaningful life. Paul Kalanathi, the author, was a brilliant man and I am grateful he found meaning and drive to share his story. Start today and examine your life, where do you find meaning and purpose? No one can define your values for you, this takes work, time, and self-reflection. It's like the quote “The trouble is, you think you have time” from Jack Kornfield's Buddha's Little Instruction Book we skitter away our time mindlessly. Today I slowed down, breathed, sipped tea and enjoyed the sunlight in the crisp morning air.

But believe me, at this moment you´re absolutely breathless. Not because of the walk for several hours (we decided not to take the "tourist route") rather then the view over the Trotternish Ridge of the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Posting this, because there are some considerations for taking another quick tour this year. But only maybe. And only because, this country never let you go again.

Again I would like to thank my wonderful and beloved wife for this and all what´s coming. Love you my dear!

Thank you for all your faves & comments. And hey, consider to visit this beautiful piece of land: The Quiraing on the Isle of Skye.

In early june of 2022, we had mornings so cool that on this occasion, I could see this stag's breath!

Just listening to Mother Nature's breath through today's icy trees.

My heirloom, dreaming to hold you

High underwater

My heirloom, where have you gone to?

My knees on the altar with nothing left

My heirloom, why can't I stay here

And breathe underwater? I resist

I'm swallowing air, I'm barely breathing

I'm dying to have you here

Under the water as the light refracts

Trying to hold you, my heirloom breath

My heirloom, my lips have turned blue

Searching for treasures that don't exist

I'm swallowing air, I'm barely breathing

I'm dying to have you here

And if I could, I would stay

If I could, I would stay

If I could, I would stay

Under the water as the light refracts

Trying to hold you, but nothing is left

And I am now closer to you than death

Some moments are rare. They don´t come back....

God bless, the Iphone was with me.... :-)))

Look closely and you can see it’s breath from the cold morning.

Softly falls the winter’s breath,

Whispering peace in silent death.

A lone bird sings its gentle tune,

Beneath the silver, glowing moon.

In this cold, a warmth is found,

In snow’s embrace, spirits unbound.

Let the calm of winter fill your heart with peace. For even in the coldest seasons, beauty and renewal are quietly waiting. ❤️

Sous les verts feuillages,

La mésange douce se pose,

Souffle de tendresse.

Under green foliage,

The gentle titmouse lands,

Breath of tenderness.

A photo from Curbar Edge last week.

These precious pauses, where we consciously choose to enjoy the moment, are not luxuries but necessities, helping us to live more fully, appreciate our surroundings, create lasting memories, and connect with others in a shared appreciation of the now

At first glance you may think this is a dreamy looking landscape and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Actually this is breath taking thick smoke from a prescribed burn of hundreds of acres of flatwoods. The burn was set the day before this image was taken and we were amazed at how thick the smoke was after an all night smolder and there were still hotspots of fire in some areas. It was near impossible to take a breath without coughing having a window opened so I shot through the windshield.

These controlled burns alter the landscape by removing invasive plants and renewing the land giving native plants a better chance to regrow and reclaim their turf and in turn giving wildlife fresh sources of food and shelter. It doesn’t take long in this climate for the remnants of the fire to disappear with exceptions of scorched tree trunks where flames ran up to grab dead leaves and limbs. It’s a necessary way to preserve the land for long term rather than letting nature take its course with a lightening strike or carelessly left campfire that can burn out of control and devastate the land like the wildfires that are burning in Canada and past fires in California.

Kinda says it all! I took this shot a couple of weeks ago but the weather the last couple of days has been just like this. Today there was no sunshine to warm our already cold hands and feet! This is where I walk the dogs nearly every day, This couple appeared to be without a four legged friend.

Photographs from a day spent at the Rocky Valley and part of the coastline at Tintagel. A beautiful winters day but no snow.

Loch Ard, Scotland.

A carnivorous animal in the same family as weasels, badgers, mink etc. that lives primarily on a diet of fish but also includes frogs, crayfish, crabs and even a few waterfowl.

A coat of long guard hairs over their insulated underfur keeps them warm and dry so they can stay comfortable throughout the North American winters. They are very successful at hunting prey in our rivers, streams and ponds aided by their webbed feet, long muscular tail and sharp claws coupled with the ability to hold their breath for extended periods. As a preventative measure to becoming waterlogged they do spend a lot of time on land and enter the water only to hunt or travel much unlike the sea otters that spend most of their lives in the ocean. An overland sprint of 10 to 18 miles while searching for prey is not uncommon.

River otters seem to have the ability to live alone or in pairs but are quick to socialize in groups when other members are encountered. After mating and going through a gestation period of 80 - 90 days a female will give birth to 1 - 5 pups in a den called a holt or couch which she excavates under tree roots or a cache of rocks. Prior to the birth the female called a bitch or sow will drive the male (dog or boar) away and the pups or cubs will be tended to by the female and older offspring if still around. The pups will begin emerging from the den at about 1 month of age and mom will entice them into the water for their first swim at about 2 months. After the pups are weaned dad may return and help raise the juveniles until probably 1 year of age. Females attain sexual maturity at 2 years of age and males at 3.

River otters range in size from 10 to 33 lbs and 2.5 to 5 ' in length with females being about 1/3 the size of males. When not hunting prey they spend much time playing and frolicking with each other. This individual is one of a trio that has clawed its way onto the ice to enjoy the spoils caught underwater.

This beautiful young bull was watching the colors of the sun rise as hi breath formed a misty cloud in front of him.

Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath

I don't wanna be left behind

Distance was a friend of mine

Catching breath in a web of lies

I've spent most of my life

Riding waves, playing acrobat

Shadowboxing the other half

Learning how to react

I've spent most of my time

Catching my breath, letting it go,

Turning my cheek for the sake of the show

Now that you know, this is my life,

I won't be told what's supposed to be right

Catch my breath, no one can hold me back,

I ain't got time for that

Catch my breath, won't let them get me down,

It's all so simple now...
