While two new double track sections are built between Altstätten and Buchs, rail replacement is necessary for more than half a year, provided by local Bus Ostschweiz AG. The 19 buses used are second-hand from Austria, being 10 standard autobuses of MAN NL323 type and 9 articulated Citaros formerly deployed in greater Vienna area. The latter still carry their "Wien Linien" livery, as Nr. 923 seen here near Oberriet as "EV1" direct service. The bus will use the motorway after having served Oberriet.

The gaur, also known as the Indian bison, is a bovine native to South Asia and Southeast Asia, and is the largest Bovine in the world. The adult male photographed here is old since the hair is approaching a uniform black colour. The body length of these majestic animals range from 8-10ft long, and weight ranging from 500Kg - 1200Kg. Adult males usually wander alone as packs are led by old matriarchs.
Predators choose to avoid confrontations with these large bovine tanks - the only exceptions being large male tigers or maggar crocodiles who might try their luck
