Serena made the School of Rock's Show Team a few months ago, and the gigs have begun. This is a relatively new song for them, so they're working it out. But I wanted a little taste of the sax solo, especially since I missed taking a Hipsta in this spectacular place on this spectacular Sunday.

Tony’s Freehold Grill, built in 1947, was originally owned by Mike De Caesare and came into current owners, the Iliadis family, in 1963.
In a conversation with Tom Iliadis, who now owns and operates the diner, he said that his dad, Tony, began working at the diner as a cook then became partner in 1961 and bought the place in 1963.
Iliadis and his brother Peter took over the running of the diner in 1986 then Tom took over ownership when Tony passed away in 2005.
The heart of downtown Freehold figured prominently in Springsteen's youth, and portions of the documentary Wings For Wheels: The Making Of Born To Run were shot at the location.
The famous Palace Amusements photographed in 1991. It was immortalised in several songs including Bruce Springsteen in 'Born to Run' when he sang 'Beyond the Palace, hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard...' but was demolished in 2004 despite an extensive protest campaign.

The first time I've tried a video clip with my 2013 HTC One M7. Quite good, given the glare from the floodlights and full HD. I stabilised it in Sony Vegas. Set your browser full screen and expand the clip for the best view of it. We were low down, centre right in the frame (ie at the front but to one side) and had a good if oblique view of the stage. The sound wasn't great in the stadium, rather echoey, but he played for well over 3 hours and you can see the crowd loved it. I found a seat for a while - standing for 4 hours straight was never my idea of fun.
Fact I did not know: Chia seeds are super rich in antioxidants, omega 3, fiber, and protein. These things are great and look much weirder than they taste (like nothing). I highly recommend them for an energy boost or before you go for a run. Found out about them in the book "Born to Run" a friend let me borrow. Great read too. The drink is called chia fresca or iskiate.

Like its predecessor For You, Lawrence Kirsch's The Light In Darkness is a beautifully put-together, limited edition coffee-table sized collection of reminisces from Bruce Springsteen fans. What makes this a must-have for the Springsteen fan on your list are the hundreds of photographs here; many of which were shot by fans as well, and thus are seen here for the very first time.
The difference with The Light In Darkness is the fact that this volume focuses specifically on the 1978 tour behind the album Darkness On The Edge Of Town. As most longtime Boss fans will tell you, this was the tour where Springsteen and the E Street Band largely solidified their reputation as one of the greatest live attractions in rock.
On this tour, Springsteen shows rarely ran under 3 & 1/2; hours, and when multiple encores were factored in, would often push closer to the five-hour mark.
These were the days so fondly remembered by the fans who were there, when songs like "Prove It All Night" began with a blistering guitar intro that was longer than the song itself, and where "Backstreets" included a lengthy mid-song rap (then called "Sad Eyes") which eventually formed the foundation for the song "Drive All Night" on the 1980 album, The River.
Here, on page after lovingly assembled page, these same fans recall their memories of seeing such legendary performances as the oft-bootlegged December 15, 1978 show at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom — one of the very final rock concerts to take place at the legendary venue. In the case of this particular show, several stories are recounted, including a beautiful photo essay of the show from Backstreets photographer P. Jay Plutzer, that includes many never-before-seen photos.
In addition to the hundreds of images and personal anecdotes from fans, there is a list of every show and every song played during the Darkness tour. In another section, writer Roy Opichinski examines the songs left over from the original sessions for the Darkness album that failed to make the final cut — including both the ones Springsteen gave away to other artists like Patti Smith ("Because The Night"), and such lost masterpieces as "The Promise" and "Iceman."
The release of The Light In Darkness comes at a time where there is a renewed interest in the 1978 Bruce Springsteen album which forms its central theme.Springsteen and the E Street Band have been recently featuring the album played in its entirety — most recently at the Spectrum in Philadelphia and at Giants Stadium in New Jersey — as part of the theme nights closing their current tour, where a classic album is performed from start to stop. It is also widely expected that a deluxe, remastered edition of Darkness will see the light of day sometime next year.
In the meantime, this beautifully done new volume from Lawrence Kirsch serves as the next best thing. For those who were there, it serves as a reminder of a time where great rock and roll seemed to make anything possible. For those who weren't, it does a nice job of telling the story of just why Springsteen and the E Street Band are so revered by the fans who were.

De titel van het boek is The Light In Darkness. Net als bij For You staan daarin de verhalen en concertfoto’s van de Bruce Springsteen fans centraal. Maar in dit geval toegespitst op de het album Darkness On The Edge Of Town.
Door de donkere rand was Darkness On The Edge Of Town een beetje een moeilijke plaat voor de doorsnee luisteraar, maar voor de fans van Bruce was het juist een lp die ze helemaal in het hart sloten. Mede hierdoor wordt de nieuwe uitgave volgens Kirsch nog bijzonderder dan For You.

House where Bruce Springsteen lived in 1974/75 and wrote the song "Born to Run." House is located at 7 1/2 West End Court in Long Branch, NJ, a few miles north of Asbury Park.
I tweaked a few of the details I wasn't quite happy with. Another artist suggested the left arm was looking a little stunted, so I lengthened it.
