This great Egret was having fun fishing! it would act like a black skimmer, grabbing the fish from the water's surface like a pro then come right in front of me and eat!

Elegant Tern performing a fishing technique I dubbed splash & grab. Basically, instead of performing the classic dive, the tern pushes the water with its chest leading the fish to the water surface then grabs it. It goes fast!!!

These guys are blitz hunters! As the water splash hasn't even come down, the fish must be wondering what happened. At this particular time, I still didn't know if the Egret caught a fish or not.

An Elegant Tern just emerging from a dive and losing its fish, too slippery I guess! This is not the tossing they usually perform when trying to adjust the fish when caught inadequately. Of course... he got it back in its beak.
