Shrouded in a green blur, with hills in the background, these houses on a lake stood out in this shot.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a blue day at Color my World Daily and the theme at looking Close on Friday is motion blur.

I must admit, motion blur is a difficult theme for me. I dont know why but I’m always struggling to find an interesting concept for this theme. I keep coming back to the classical «flipping pages » motion blur… and as you can see in my picture this time was no exception. I added a levitating heart because who could resist that ? I just hope you will like it my friends !!

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! And see you soon !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!

When the sun is below the horizon or it's too dark for shutter speeds fast enough to freeze birds in flight, I enjoy shooting blurs. Here I was using 1/60th of a second. It's necessary to pan at the same speed the bird is moving and hope to get the head sharp. It's typical not to get any keepers but still fun. This is a Cattle Egret, just starting it's nest building in my area of southeast Florida. When they are in breeding plumage, they get the yellow cap and chest as shown here. (Casmerodius albus)

The theme today is "intentional blur",

easier said than done with a macro 3" restriction.

I tried lots of different ideas,

a Mersenne prime of failed attempts later...

thank you K Jurgens for your patient spinning help,

ay, this was so HARD to do!

HMM!

This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Gaussian Blur. Is it a riddle? Is it a puzzle? I dunno, it looks like it's going right. HMMM!

Blurs rarely work, and this one didn't either. The head wasn't sharp. However, the image of the flight right before this one had a nice sharp head, but the wings didn't have the effect seen in this frame. All it took was a switcheroo (a term of art) of the head to fix the problem. I tried to diminish the effect of the busy background by desaturating it a bit and removing the brightness from the curved blade in front and under the duck. I normally would have passed on this image, but I'm enamored with the effect of the slow shutter speed (1/200) on the wings. I'll probably hate it by tomorrow.
