Why so much suffering for the most vulnerable people ? and why so less humanity, solidarity, welcoming from those who are lucky enough to be born in the right side of our planet ?
We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others' happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world, there's room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

Based on Sarah J. Maas's work:
“What if I tell you what the rock and darkness and sea and beyond whispered to me, Lord of Bloodshed? How they shuddered in fear, on that island across the sea. How they trembled when she emerged. She took something—something precious. She ripped it out with her teeth. What came out was not what went in.” ― Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Wings and Ruin
I'm not sure if it was a battle for territory, access to the food, or wanting to hog the camera lens, but the drake on the right viciously attacked the bird on the left. There was neck biting, kicking, pushing and more. When the victim finally got away from his attacker, we could see no injuries. Thankfully it seems that the attacker achieved whatever goals he had without bloodshed.

“One heart is not connected to another through harmony alone. They are, instead, linked deeply through their wounds. Pain linked to pain, fragility to fragility. There is no silence without a cry of grief, no forgiveness without bloodshed, no acceptance without a passage through acute loss. That is what lies at the root of true harmony.”

If only !
I suddenly liked this shot yesterday. It was languishing on the hard drive and looks like a shot turned monochrome and the colour popped but its not. Colours are true out of camera. I felt the symbolism as I gazed at it and it matched exactly how I feel about the situation Ukraine finds itself in. I hope there is no more bloodshed - enough is definitely enough and we should all be able to live in peace and in harmony. Nature shows us the way but we need to be able to follow her lead....

There are so many waves and smoke
That you can't tell the difference
The white of black
And the energy of desperation
The phone will be able to ring
There will be no more subscribers.
And no more ideas
That silence to breathe
Restart
Where the world began
I'll go sleep in the white paradise...
Where the nights are so long that we forget the time...
Alone with the wind
Like in my childhood dreams
I'll run away to the white paradise
Away from the looks of hatred and bloodshed
Finding the whales
Talking to the silverfish
Like, like, like before
There are so many waves and so many ideas...
That we can't decide
The fake of the real
And who to love or condemn
The day I've given everything
That my keyboards will be worn out
For daring
Always wanting to try everything
And, uh...
...was the answer I gave many years ago, when discussing whether or not the Holocaust happened, trust me, there isn't a subject on Earth I am afraid to touch and that's how it should be for everyone, it should also be the way that whether or not a subject is sensitive it doesn't get lost in translation, as in, just because I give it a mention doesn't mean I am denying it happened, besides, I can't, I wasn't there. But I ask this, what makes those million people's deaths any more an atrocity than the millions of lives lost since then, in every subsequent war thereafter?! Don't get me started on the DU weaponry and subsequent nuclear poisoning of Iraq, oh and before that, agent Orange in Vietnam.
Every war is a holocaust, a pointless mass loss of life to further banking and corporate interests, go ask the Ukraine people, they've just been bought out by Blackrock, in what can only be described as international gentrification.
As for the photo, I just turned a pile of rocks and barbed wire in your mind into an improvised soldier's grave, in what looks like the middle of Serbia, because of just the title, amazing how I did that, do you know who else can do that?, the mainstream media!
I hope everyone is well and here's to having a great weekend, as always, thank you! :)

We have to learn to come together, killing does not resolve anything and hurts everyone involved!!!

Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed. - Mao Zedong
Vietnam Flag
The flag of Vietnam, or “cờ đỏ sao vàng” (red flag with yellow star), was designed in 1955 and used during an uprising against French rule in southern Vietnam that year. Red symbolizes the bloodshed and revolutionary struggle. The star represents the five main classes in Vietnamese society—intellectuals, farmers, workers, businesspeople and military personnel.
The flag was used by the Viet Minh, a communist-led organization created in 1941 to oppose Japanese occupation. At the end of World War II, Viet Minh leader Ho Chi Minh proclaimed Vietnam independent and signed a decree on 5 September 1945 adopting the flag as the flag of the North Vietnam.
I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men - cries out for universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world - millions of despairing men, women, and little children - victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.♥

If you're going through hell, keep going.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.
Never, never, never give up.
A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
I have chosen only
Winston Churchill's quotes for this work because I feel that they are very fitting for our present time.

♫ Tell your good friends
You're gonna leave them
With bloodshed eyes, while
They prove the beds light
No need to think when
This crowd gets moving
These beats are bar bets
Heart beats and hand claps
And your bad friends
Are more important
Don't turn those lights down
'Cause these are fight sounds, fight sounds, fight sounds ♫
lepanto is the title of these paintings by Cy Twombly. it refers to a battle between the "holy" league and the turks which ended in an enormous bloodshed. apparently in twombly's late work ships stand for the transition between our and another world.

I cannot take back that last wound
I have lanced my own heart
And the heavens broke down in sorrow
When I speared yours apart
I was proud to serve under the Eagle
I wanted to be more than myself
But you have made me question this
That allegiance in doubt right now
Why did you heal me?
Did you know that you had?
Whatever the reason
You were a holy man and I am glad
I wish I had heard you speak
Shared your compassion
Looked into your eyes
And seen the truth instead of lies
Yet you forgave me
Even now you forgive me
And let me see with new eyes
The light of a new day with joyful surprise
If I had a wish for Easter, it would be that all bloodshed would stop, and people would open their minds to dialogue. Hatred is like an infection, it just loves to spread.
We need to make a choice. And that is to listen. Peace is something that requires work and time. Hatred is easy.
The challenge is peace. Please let's go to work.

Burnside's Bridge, located on the Antietam battlefield was the site of fierce fighting & bloodshed when numerous attempts under the Union's IX corps included Ohio, New Hampshire, Rhode Island & Connecticut failed under heavy fire from some 500 Confederates across the river on the mountains but was finally taken under General Ferrero's Brigade of New York & Pennsylvania infantry who succeeded in crossing & removing the Confederates from the hill.

One of several graveyards we passed on the way out of Plitvice Lakes, where the “Homeland Wars” bloodshed began with the assassination of a park ranger in 1991, and continued until 1995, leaving over 20,000 dead and half a million displaced. Tomorrow, as promised, this week’s monochrome history series ends with a Brighter Future.

You may notice that I have changed my profile picture for the time being. I have to admit that it’s getting on my nerves that a growing number of Flickr members from the russian federation use this platform to pretend everything is normal. While I do understand their motives I refuse to carry on playing this game of carefully taking into consideration that this one person might only be a little follower and not one of the torturing murderers and their sympathizers. I‘m sick and tired of this general silent agreement to spare russians the truth and communicate only in subtly chiseled words to protect them from those in power. I don’t feel able to muster any more sympathy with the people wanting to lie low and bury their heads in the sand, while their fuckwitted military shows the rest of the world how low the human race can go. I don’t want my pictures to be a tool for people to make themselves believe that there is any connection left that hasn’t been destroyed by their lying government, their army of barbarians and their blatant disrespect for any living being on this continent.
Pictured on my new profile photo is Olivka. Olivka and her brave human live in the battered frontline city of Mykolaiv, Ukraine. They have been shelled every day, for almost seven months. Russian rockets and bombs are fired on civilian homes all the time. Most of their nights need to be spent in the basement, without sleep. Heavy artillery fired on their homes makes the ground shake and the walls crumble. All you can focus on is the hope that you won’t be hit directly, that the house won’t collapse on top of you burying you -more or less- alive, that not all of your belongings and your home in the house above you will go up in flames. People, children among them, die not only due to being shelled, shot or tortured, but also out of sheer terror. The russians have cut the water supply of hundreds of thousands of people back in spring. People need to queue for every drop of drinking water, in between hiding during the frequent air raid alarms. The russians destroy basic infrastructure on a daily basis. They don’t do this for military success -on the contrary, they are retreating as fast as the chechen blocking forces and the Dnipro allow- but solely to terrorize the civilian population.
The only thing the russian federation is able to do is destroy what better people have built and steal what they’re not able to come up with themselves.
The bloodshed is too big, the destruction of lives and futures too vast, the sorrow and loss and suffering too enormous. And I haven‘t even started on the subject of being so criminally idiotic to start firefights around the biggest nuclear power plant in Europe.
Russians, you have no right to look the other way nor do you have any right to normalcy.
Battle Abbey was an excellent place to look around even though I'm not usually a "castle" person. So much to see & very informative signs all around.
The Battle of Hastings, fought on 14 October 1066, is one of the best-known events in England’s history, when William of Normandy defeated the army of King Harold of England. The battlefield owes its survival to the founding by William the Conqueror of Battle Abbey on the site as penance for the bloodshed. Much of the battlefield became part of the abbey’s great park, which formed the core of a country estate after the abbey’s suppression in 1538.
This is a repost, but I believe an important one, still very topical in today's world. It is a work that I collaborated with my daughter, Karen who wrote a poem for this work.
I think that my message is loud and clear. History proves again and again that war is not the solution, dialogue and diplomacy can work, they take a huge amount of effort and time, mainly because both sides have to feel as if they are part of the solution, I still reiterate a non violent approach and solution is almost always possible. Too many people die in wars and too many innocent people are left parentless, childless and distraught with grief. Surely in 2010 (and now continuing into 2016) we can all come together to try and make a more peaceful world without so much violence. We can start at home, by teaching our children about love, tolerance, acceptance and being able to listen to others, share their fears, hopes and dreams and give our fellow human beings, animals and environment our support.
Stop the Violence & the Bloodshed
Spiraling out of control,
the anger,
the hate.
When did we stop realizing
that we are all brothers?
That we are all one?
Brother against brother
we stand,
fighting a war
we don’t truly understand
History does not have to repeat itself,
the future is a blank slate.
Erase the anger and the hate
and paint instead a picture
of love and compassion.
Look at one another with the eyes of God.
See what beauty is to be found in the human race.
See how simple our differences are,
and the complexity of the lines that make us one.
Humanity is truly beautiful.

He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
Psl 147:3 Psl 51
Whatever the cause of broken-heartedness
the solution is the same
Casting all your cares upon Him because He cares for you.
Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest even unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
Who takes ownership of the nations sin calling it their own and pleading to the LORD in humility, we should be brokenhearted over all the innocent bloodshed, over sexual perversion, these two sins defile the land. The sword(war) avenges innocent blood, but God delights in mercy and justice
In Lycian times, the town was known as Karmilassos. When the Greeks occupied it, they changed its name to Levissi. The first mention of Levissi dates back to the 14th century and it belongs to Sanudo, an Italian traveler.
Originally built in the 1700s, the town called Karmylassos in Greek was home to as many as 20,000 Greek Orthodox residents by the early twentieth century. The messy fallout of World War I and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire led to the land grabs of the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922). The resounding loss of the Greeks in this war ended with violence and retribution, which was often aimed at the remaining Greek Orthodox community within the new Turkish borders, and in turn, against the Muslim Turks in Greece. Hundreds of thousands of Greeks fled the violence in Turkey, which led the governments to agree to a mutual compulsory population exchange starting in 1923 in order to staunch the bloodshed.
The residents of Kayakoy, who had thus far lived peacefully with their Turkish neighbors, abandoned the town and went to Greece, which was struggling to find places for the nearly 200,000 refugees of the exchange, added to the more than a million former Turkish residents who had fled before the official exchange. Over 300,000 Turks were forcibly removed from Greece to a war-ravaged, but land-rich, Turkey in exchange. The polar explorer and Nobel Prize-winning Norwegian scientist Fridtjof Nansen was assigned the task of organizing the exchange.
In Kayakoy, approximately 350 homes now sit empty and mostly roofless, along with two Greek Orthodox churches and the fountains and cisterns that watered the city.
I cannot understand why the Supreme Court voted against protective gun laws? How many more children and innocent people have to be killed before we actually take a peaceful stand. The USA has more deaths from gunshots than any other country in the world! Can we not learn our lesson. Now we have to watch more bloodshed in the name of???

Tune: The Truth Beneath The Rose
Give me strength to face the truth
The doubt within my soul
No longer I can justify
The bloodshed in his name
Is it a sin to seek the truth, the truth beneath the rose?
Pray with me so I will find the gate to Heaven's door
I believed it would justify the means
It had a hold over me
Blinded to see
The cruelty of the beast
Here is the darkest side of me
(Forgive me my sins)
The veil of my dreams
Deceived all I have seen
Forgive me for what I have been
(Forgive me my sins)
Pray for me 'cause I have lost my faith in holy wars
Is paradise denied to me 'cause I can't take no more?
Has darkness taken over me
Consumed my mortal soul?
All my virtues sacrificed
Can Heaven be so cruel?
I believed it would justify the means
It had a hold over me
(Forgive me my sins)
Blinded to see
The cruelty of the beast
Here is the darkest side of me

A rock squirrel, charming, outwardly sweet,
Yet thrashed a chipmunk, with relentless beat.
Ruthless, senseless act of dread,
The poor soul lay lifeless, bloodshed spread
As I watched in shocked dismay,
A Cooper's hawk seized the lifeless prey.
Survival rules, both night and day,
In nature's wild, where instincts play.
For in this realm, the law is clear:
Only the quick have naught to fear.
Nature is indifferent, bold and free,
There’s only the quick, and no guarantee.

Indeed, the skies are cloudless,
