This movement has taught me strength, to stand up for my loved ones who are people of color. As a white passing Latina, I have always been taught from a young age that because of my pale skin color compared to my relatives, I will get farther in life. At the time I truly didn't understand what that meant, until recently. My family stems from black, native, and colonizer blood, so we come in all shades of brown, but I will take responsibility of amplifying the message of Black Lives Matter as a person of lighter colored skin.
Additionally, this image reminds me of the multiple protests I went to in my town and the multiple organizations I donated to, to help POC and especially black lives. I hope all people have the chance to reach out to POC and provide them support in a world dominated by systemic racism.
