For 25 years, the name Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area has rarely disappointed.
Outside the southern Oregon Coast community of Reedsport, about 100 elk call the preserve home, and passers-by who choose to pull off of Hwy. 38 get a sure-thing opportunity at wildlife viewing.
Sometimes a bull elk, Oregon’s largest land mammal, simply struts by. Other times, youngsters get up on their hind legs and do some sparring.
Almost every time, though, the elk are there to graze on the same meadow grasses and shrubs.

BLM in Phoenix - You have to be looking for this mural collage of young Black people and you’ve got to work to try to see it even when you know it’s there above the roof along Grand Avenue in the arts district. But such a fine message of hope and survival in these dark days in America.
A pair of positively mundane B10M Plaxtons of Merediths, but it is still nice to see their coaches in the traditional livery, and not the plain white that took over in recent years, although some yellow and red stripes have started to make a return.
122 BLM was new to Meredith in 1985, and stayed in use until 2010, when it was placed in storage. In 2018, it was sold for preservation locally, so at least the colours will live on that way, although it is now registered B421 FMB.
