Protests and riots sprung up across the U.S. this week following the death of George Floyd, a black man suffocated by a police officer during an arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Monday.
Around 7 p.m., a protest began in Oklahoma City at the intersection of NW 23rd & Classen. Chants of "NO JUSTICE. NO PEACE." filled the air as hundreds of protesters circled the road to block traffic. Dozens of police officers arrived. Arrests were made. I took as many photos as I could.
Much of the early portion of the protest was peaceful. I couldn't see anyone fighting until police arrived to clear the intersection. Around 9 p.m., protesters started marching toward toward the Plaza District and eventually marched to the Oklahoma City Police Department Headquarters, 700 Colcord, and eventually dispersed from the area at about midnight.

London, UK. 1st May 2021. Several thousands held a rally in Trafalgar Square before marching past the Ministries of Justice, DWP and Education to the Home Office against the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill which will ban effective protests, criminalising many and create new offences with heavy sentences, discriminating against Gypsy, Roma and Travellers and expanding racist stop and search powers. NPLD events took place all across Oregon and Washington. Thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help improve our nation's public lands!
More than 75 people showed up for a sunny day of work at the Tumalo Historic Canal Trailhead in the Cline Buttes Recreation Area near Redmond, Oregon, to help the Prineville District BLM put some finishing touches on the new trailhead.
Volunteers built trail, moved rock, constructed split rail fence and put some overall polish at this new site designed for hikers and equestrian riders. We couldn't have done the work without our partners at the Oregon Military Department, Oregon Equestrian Trails, REI, and Oregon State Parks!
