I think this was in front of Graceland… I’ve signed that wall out front 3 times before the entire BLM incident destroyed a lot of the signatures and such on the outside walls of Graceland. One of these days I’ll tour the place. I say that every year though lol.

An Imperial Russian officer, wearing a 1909 dress uniform.

The Bureau of Land Management sent Equipment Shop employees to the BFX Fire Apparatus factory in Weatherford, Texas to perform comprehensive vehicle inspections on new fire vehicles. Over the course of three days the equipment shop inspected eight Type-Six Engines and three Command Vehicles. This process is done to find and address any discrepancies between the received product and the specifications established in the contract before the vehicle is put into service.

The Equipment Shop takes on inspection projects many times a year in addition to research and development, modifications and repairs, and other fire vehicle related duties.

In the summer of 2016, the BLM Burns District continued its partnership with the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History and the Oregon Archaeological Society and conducted archaeological excavations at the Rimrock Draw Rockshelter site in southeastern Oregon.

The site, discovered in 2009 by BLM Archaeologist Scott Thomas, has hosted archaeology field schools since 2011. In 2015, it became internationally known after archaeologists found a small stone tool under a layer of volcanic ash from a volcanic eruption about 15,800 years ago.

This tool suggests one of the oldest known human occupations in the western United States.

The 2016 excavations encountered significant rock and boulder debris, resulting from at least two occasions of portions of the rock wall calving or breaking off – probably around 8,000 and 10,000 years ago. These rocks limited access to the ground beneath them, and many were removed only after drilling and splitting reduced them to removeable sizes.

In coordination with the BLM’s Scott Thomas, Dr. Patrick O’Grady with the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History directed excavations for the fifth year in 2016, and Jordan Pratt, graduate student at Texas A&M University, served as the excavation’s site supervisor. Volunteers from the Oregon Archaeological Society, students from the University of Oregon, and archaeologists from the BLM conducted the excavations.

There was a press conference in Blacksburg today. It was titled "Joint Press Conference - Dialogue on Race & Law Enforcement." Speakers included Virginia Tech faculty, local politicians, and all of the local police chiefs/sheriffs.

I made this artwork to place in front of my home to pay respect to BLM. I fully believe that Black Lives Matter and I am an ally, an advocate, and a friend to this movement.

When the list of those facing discrimination is this long, society has a lot of work to do.

Protests in Wallkill / Middletown, New York

After I shot Georgetown, I decide to venture a little closer towards the White House - the epicenter of the protest because the protesters want to irk and vent there frustrations directly at the them sitting president - Donald J. Trump.

As I walked down Connecticut Ave NW toward the White House, you can see all of the graffiti in black, red, white, and other colors of spray paint on street signs, statues, and monuments, walls, everywhere.

In the background I can hear the chants and roars of crowds towards the White House and Lafayette Park on 16th St, NW,

I decide to try my luck - I lost control of my curiosity. I had to document this. [Note: I am inspired by Devin Allen, a reknowned street photographer who adopted Gordon Park's style of photography. Check him out on Flickr (bydevinallen) and on Instagram.]

Richmond, Va / USA - August 8th, 2020: Sign placed at one of the main protest locations in Richmond on Monument Ave. The sign reads "Welcome to Beautiful Marcus - David Peters Circle Liberated by the People MMXX". and sits in front of the vandalized Robert E. Lee memorial.

Grütschalp, August 13th, 2016

One week later, organized protests and marches commenced on 16th Street to Lafayette Square in front of the north lawn of the White House. Organizations showed up in full firce and the energy was at a feverish pitch. I was walking up 16 St. from the White House when I noticed this group marching and chanting down 16 St. I had to get this shot by running in front of the group while walking backwards because I have a long lens on my camera.

Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area extends out from the Oregon coast, one mile into the Pacific Ocean. Standing 93 feet tall at the westernmost point of the basalt headland, the lighthouse has guided ships and their supplies along the west coast since 1873. Last year, the Yaquina Head Lighthouse underwent a preservation project that lasted about 90 days.

The offshore islands are a year-round refuge for harbor seals and a spring-summer home for thousands of nesting seabirds. Gray whales can be spotted during their annual migrations to Mexico (late fall-early winter) and Alaska (late winter-early spring). During the summer months, some gray whales take the opportunity to feed in the shallow waters around the headland.

Cobble Beach is compiled of millions of round basalt rocks that produce an applause-like sound as the waves roll in. When the tide is low a vibrant ocean floor is revealed—pools of colorful animals including orange sea stars, purple sea urchins, and giant green anemones.

This is a bit of guerrilla art on Queen Anne, incomplete because the artists were detained by the cops for "gang graffiti".

Because the SPD doesn't have bad enough optics already?

In a state where desert arroyos, washes, and many streambeds remain bone-dry most of the time, the year-round flow of Cienega Creek makes it a highly valuable resource. A lush green ribbon of vegetation defines one of the most significant riparian zones in southern Arizona. Cienega Creek gets its name from the cienegas, or marshes, which occur along its length. This rare vegetation community has nearly disappeared in the Southwest. The national conservation area includes a working cattle ranch. Visitors are asked to leave all gates as they are found. There is no trash pick up, so visitors need to pack up all trash. The area is a travel corridor for illegal immigrants traveling from Mexico. Visitors should report all suspected illegal activities to BLM or local law enforcement authorities and stay safe by avoiding contact with persons exhibiting suspicious behavior or engaged in dangerous activities.

Black Lives Matter, people.

I recommend checking out what people have done on the chain link fence around the White House, where a very scared man is living.

The north-south Inyo Mountains comprise a high and vast desert range, and the isolated and pristine Wilderness that bears their name encompasses a large portion of this sheerly rugged terrain. The area reaches a high point on Keynot Peak, at about 11,000 feet, and separates the Owens Valley on the west from the Saline Valley on the east. Most of the eastern border is shared with Death Valley National Park. Year-round streams, some cascading over waterfalls, can be found in eight canyons on the rough east side. These steep-walled canyons offer challenges to rock climbers. In addition to Keynot Peak, the prominent summits of New York Butte and Mount Inyo provide tough, nontechnical hikes with splendid views as rewards. Creosote, shadscale scrub, and sagebrush proliferate at lower elevations. You'll find a lush riparian habitat in the moist canyons, and pinion-juniper woodlands on some of the slopes. Bristlecone and limber pine grow in the higher reaches. Inyo Mountains Wilderness lies partly on BLM land and partly within Inyo National Forest.

The 2015 Soda Fire burned nearly 280,000 acres in southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon, including nearly 200,000 acres of sage-grouse habitat, portions of 41 grazing allotments, three wild horse management areas, and a popular motorized and non-motorized recreation area. Due to the location of the fire and its effect on federal, state and private lands, a collaborative approach was taken to assess values at risk within the entire burned area. The Soda Fire Emergency Stabilization and Rehabilitation (ESR) plan was the first large scale fire to be planned and implemented following the release of Secretarial Order 3336 – Rangeland Fire Prevention, Management and Restoration.

The collaborative concept was carried forward with the development and implementation of the ESR effort. This level of collaboration which involved US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is not typical of ESR efforts, but has been successful and supported. The Record of Decision was issued by the Boise and Vale Districts on October 21. The plan identified treatments to begin stabilizing the burned area, promote the recovery of native communities, increase perennial grasses, reduce invasive annual species, and restore shrubs and forbs to take the first steps toward the recovery of habitat for the greater sage-grouse. BLM continues to work with our partners through monitoring,

the development of grazing rest and resumption decisions, and adaptive management.
