Historic marker for Billie Holiday at the former Douglass Hotel, where she often staid when in Philly (although she was born in Philadelphia, she never lived there for any extended period of time).

Here's a close-up of the historic marker.

... and here's some information about the Douglass hotel (and the club Showboat, which came later).

When I first came across this marker, I though that this must be the location where Billie Holiday was arrested for drugs in 1947 (as told in her autobiography). Turns out, this happened at a different place, the Hotel Attucks, which is located a few blocks from here.
