The investment in my mobile intruder alarm system paid off bigtime. Translation: the dogs were barking up a storm which prompted me to investigate the cause of this. My decision to not store my photo equipment in assorted lens and camera storing compartments but to leave it easily accessible on the coffee table proved to be right on point as well. Once I discovered the reason for the alert (this was not easily accomplished since I scanned the yard at a much lower level than where the saw-whet owl was actually located – top of the swinging bench), I just needed to extricate my camera from other urgently needed items (clutter) on my coffee table. The owl was completely oblivious to mine and the dogs’ presence, being utterly preoccupied in deciding on the best angle of attack for a delicious mouse dinner. The owl and I have a bit of a symbiotic relationship. She keeps the mouse population under control on the outside of the house (my cat does the inside) and I get to use her as a bit of a decorative item for various yard structures, in this case the hanging swing bench. This image was taken about 15 minutes before it got too dark to shoot at reasonable ISOs.

Even though the mouse population may disagree with this, I find lots of things that are sweet about her.

I sat with a friend and watched these guys for awhile - wow were they hard to find even if I was looking right at them. They were really blending in bigtime.

Due to the long, hot dry summer with lots of sun the heather suffered bigtime. A lot has turned brown, even more has lost every bit of leaf. But here is still blooming heather left and if you look closely you can see fresh new sprouts thanks to the rain that finally start to fall.

I saw one of my all time favorite musicians, Angel Olsen, at Thalia Hall on Friday and it was very special! Here's the review with links to hear the songs she played if you are not familiar:

such a scary road, the Highline Road between Lillooet and Pemberton, the views of the icy green lake waters were awesome but I had to close my eyes from sheer terror, as there were no guardrails, just a rocky plunge into the unknown where your car would be hidden forever from passersby ...

I'm glad we drove it but never again, just thinking about it gives me the willies. This is one of two photos I managed to get as I had to open my eyes and shakily lift my camera ... yep I'm a bigtime wuss.

P.S. I finally completed this series! It only took, what? 7 months? I honestly never planned this last little world to be posted today of all days considering the theme of it but I guess it was meant to be. The background is without a doubt something that was developed in all these months since Kintsugi opened during the month of May. To be exact, it opened to public on May 12 2020. I am sure the sim brought so much joy to plenty of people and it was a beacon of hope during those trying moments when we were faced with countless changes. It is sad that the sim has to close but some things sadly cannot last so long though the memories and the feelings it gave us will forever be imprinted. Despite everything, there was still some highly positive and significant happenings that made this year not completely bad which is why this little world representing joy just makes me smile.

The joy of making new friends, isn't it a beautiful, heartwarming and soulful connection? The sheer feeling of being accepted and accepting in return. Unfortunately, as much as making close friends happened, losing them too was a part of it. But perhaps this is why the notion of certain friends only meant to be 'close' for a season is a reality and this was proven during this year for me. As much as it is sad that your once close friend turns into an acquaintance, this was probably how things were meant to be. In spite of that, others tend to just disappear or leave for their own valid excuses/reasons. Did you lack anywhere? Maybe and maybe not but the important thing is you tried to fight for it. After all, friendship in solidarity are the most precious once and can lead to the most heavy heartache when ended.

The joy of discovery, discovering something new, discovering more about your long time friends and family and just discovering a whole new passion. Realizing you can create something beautiful with a long time friend that touched peoples hearts and helped to heal a little. Whether it is taking on a new instrument or discovering you had a passion for collecting different rocks or stamps. Diving into the world of trading, gold bidding and all other forms of digital profit making propaganda. Continuing or starting to write a book. The most common one that I have seen is those who didn't think they could cook before suddenly becoming bigtime cooks and bakers!

Last but not the least, the joy of finding love. Most said that it was not wise to get carried away with your feelings during this type of period since everyone was 'bored'. Well screw those who said that, the joy of finding love is one of a kind. That timeless connection with a person that you just feel a calmness and serenity. (In fact, all the little worlds together!) Someone who boosts your creativity, someone who silently holds your hand and who is just there, cheering you on as much as you do them...

Being the Grinch that I usually am, I will not admit that the Christmas season does have a way to melt a stone heart and bring about this sort of mushy positive message. I'll end this wishing everyone endless joy!

Winter is here. Bigtime!

The snow is up to my knees!

The Beaver Full Moon is the largest moon in 2025. Thank goodness I had clear skies on this night.

I used a new program to me today called "Affinity" which is a free program now. I did some reading about it and discovered that it has a really good stacking feature to combine multiple images used in macro stacking.

I thought it would be interesting to check it out to see how well the stacking feature works on my recent Beaver Moon images. I finally found my way around the program and stacked 15 good images into Affinities Stacking program.

Well, I was a bit stunned at how well the image turned out. Much better than what Photoshop can do - it sucks, bigtime.

Grackles puff their feathers and spread their tails to attract the ladies and show turf dominance. The puffing up only lasts for about one second before they shrink back down. Sometimes two or three males will do it repeatedly to compete. I was lucky enough to get this one in full puff.

Today's bigtime melting produced these quite similar circles on the pond out back.

I was out hunting for hinges for the SSC and had just parked in the car park for Leatherhead's church hall and heard the approach of something big and meaty . Dashed out to the road expecting to see some American Muscle coming - maybe a Corvette Stingray , a Ford Mustang or even a Dodge Challenger R/ T , but NO it was a Ferrari not sounding like a Ferrari to my mind .

Not being a Ferrari fan I do not know what marque this is and can only guess it comes from about 50s/60s , but I could be wrong .

Anyone out there with more than an idea please chip in !!

"Everybody here, comes form somewhere that they would just as soon forget or disguise." ~REM, "Supernatural, Superserious"

Which got me thinking about where I came from, and what I disguise. So here's me, nerding it up bigtime a la my freshman year of highschool. Back then I was an awkward girl with mousy hair, a bad junkfood habit, and the uncanny ability to get ditched by her "friends." Thus, I spent many a Saturday night with my cat (played here by Sir Pip) and either the piano or a book or five. And yes, things have changed - as an almost thirty-year-old, I feel infinitely more comfortable in my own skin and I've finally learned how to clean myself up. But I still love a good graphic novel. And I still have my teddy bear.

"Lord Jesus, may I give you fitting honor in the way I live my life and in the way I treat my neighbor. May I honor the Lord's Day as a day holy to you. Salamat Kuya E at J! Tunno maminsan manen! Hehehe

Not too clever this moo cow , here we are struggling under a barbed wire fence for a bit of grass on the edge of a road , albeit not much more than a lane . However , the cow is actually on an area of land that is a wildlife habitat bigtime with loads of protected space .

A Photoshop project I've wanted to do for a little while.

It seems like a lot of my time lately has been filled with wishes. Wishes for more time, for more energy , for more money.....I wish for a lot of things but then when I actually sit and think about it, I don't really need all the things I wish for, I'm pretty darn lucky with what I've got :)

This was a backup idea after my first idea failed bigtime....some days are just like that!

From the archives… Hope you all have a great week and thank you BIGTIME for all your wonderful comments! That is deeply appreciated!

While it's still technically autumn, we're supposed to transition into Winter bigtime in West Michigan over night.

So in that spirit ...

Piedmont has arrived at the bigtime, in the form of widebody aircraft and transatlantic service, as seen here at the airline's Charlotte, North Carolina hub on July 10, 1987. Check out the reflection in the new, shiny unpainted portion of the fuselage!

Picnics : you're doing it right

The Mju has a tendency to focus on the background, despite me telling it not too. Oh Well.

We found out there is a lot of snow in the big tree up above the drum circle. This creates a dangerous situation for the tree is very high and if the snow falls on the people down below......

So we decided to bring in the hatchie catapult and some hatchies and shoot them at the snow. No hatchies were harmed during the proceedings (rather, they had big fun and ate waffles :-)

Everyone helped to clean the snow away from the drum circle. The dragon fire and Sir Langalf's meteors helped bigtime! (And saved us from shoveling!)
