Area students presented a history and tribute to Black History Month on Friday morning at Lombard Middle School. Representing organizations included the The Carl Sandburg College Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Knox County YMCA Solutions Program, the GHOST Step Team, and the Carl Sandburg College Upward Bound Program. The event offered entertaining and educational information to celebrate the history and contributions of African-Americans throughout the years.

Vicenza Military Community members celebrated Black History Month with an observance that took place in the Golden Lion Conference Center Feb. 27.
Joel Blakeney was the guest speaker for the event hosted by 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne).
The theme of the 2018 observance was “African Americans in Times of War.”
Special guests also included the Vicenza Middle School Choir, Trill Village Dance Crew, and Baile con Sazon Dance Group.
An award presentation and cake cutting concluded the event.
