1) This photo has a lot going on inside of it. For starters I tried to balance the photo as much as I could. Her arms started to get tired and shake, but through trying and trying and cropping I think we got it pretty good. The left side is a little heavy because the gun is more in focus and also raised a little higher. But overall I think they do a decent job of balancing each other out. The lines in this photo are imaginary and are Eye sight lines that take you to the subject’s eyes vs. away from them. The way I thought this would work would be that you start at the gun go to her eyes and then back down the other gun and off the page. There are many more but I don't want to get too wordy. 2) Okay, so I shot this and didn't realize that my subject was wearing white, while my background was white as well. Dur. Either way the Guns themselves, though they are not my "subject" per say have excellent contrast from the background, just due to value. My subject has pretty decent separation because of her hair vs. the background. I did my best to keep her shirt out of the frame. I chose black and white to emphasize the separation. 3) The sources of lighting were one window, and two can lights. The window provided very, very, very soft shadows because of the weather. It was almost not enough at 3 o'clock. The can lights provided a mild to harsh shadow, though you can't see it as much due to the black and white. The window lighting was very cold and blue, which provided contrast to the warm, yellow almost orange light of the can. I placed one can light to the left of my subject, one to the front right, with the window directly to her right. Even with 3 sources I still had some pretty intense shadows. 4) I think my biggest technical complication was getting the focus right. The lighting was good so I didn't have issues with SS, ISO, or with the aperture being so low. However, with my aperture being so low I had to pin point my focus, which was tough. My depth of field was purposefully extremely shallow, because I did not want the viewers eyes to be to busy. 5) The story behind this photo comes from my movie for the film fest in a sense. What I was going for was a sort of Bad-Mama-jamma, to be polite. The reason I chose this photo over the other two was because of her expression. Even with it being really blurry you can still see the cynical smirk on her face. That played so well to the part that it drew me right in. The feel I was aiming for was that this chick, even though sweet looking, doesn't care one bit, one wrong move and your done.

Domesticated animals have been apart of everyday life for thousands of years where by nowadays pet dogs are just as much a part of suburbia as the mowing of the lawn, and the white picket fences. Within the article ‘Pets, Families, and the life course’, Bulcroft emphasizes the strange contradictions evident in owing a pet dog, and of our inherent persistence in making them apart of our family, ‘‘In short pets are an economic paradox – particularly when contrasted with human welfare needs. It is precisely this paradox that raises interesting sociological questions about the role of pets in the modern household.’’ (1988, pp 554)
The childlike features we see within our pets are something humans seem to have always had a fascination with. Hirschman states, ‘‘Among the neotenous traits given to dogs through 12, 000 years of selective breeding are foreshortened snouts, large brown eyes, hanging ears, skin folds and miniature size – all of which to give it a doll or child like appearance.’’ (1994, pp.617) The term neotenous refers to the way in which selective breeding in dogs has created these juvenile characteristics that certain breeds maintain into adulthood. This effect creates a need for human owners to want to nurture their pet dog as they would a small child.
The process of Anthropomorphism is a well-known phenomena in which we project humanistic traits onto other living creatures, Hirschman states, ‘‘Anthropomorphism refers to the apparently universal human tendency to ascribe human characteristics onto non-human entities. Most commonly they are associated with other living creatures and in particular companion animals. Dogs are especially are imbued by their owners with human qualities.’’ (1994, pp.617)

My best friend, golden retriever, Skipper. He is twelve years old but still in good shape. He enjoying the last days of summer with my daughter Lucija on one of the beaches on the Adriatic Sea, close to our city of Rijeka in Croatia.
