Winterthur is the premier museum of American decorative arts, with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America since 1640. The collection is displayed in the magnificent 175-room house, much as it was when the family of founder Henry Francis du Pont called it home.
Winterthur is also 1,000 acres of protected meadows, woodlands, ponds, and waterways. The 60-acre garden, designed by du Pont, is among America’s best, with magnificent plantings and massive displays of color throughout the year. The graduate degree programs and extensive research library make Winterthur an important center for the study of American art and culture.

You can never use the word "remote" in Connecticut since things are never really far away no matter where you are in the state, but the rural drive to the park, the peaceful woodland hike and picturesque falls at Campbell will make you feel as though you're a thousand miles away from it all. It's not a long hike nor is the waterfall going to rival Niagara, but it's very nice here and well worth the effort to get there. Snow melts and lots of rain produce the best flow off water cascading down the huge rock formations so you may want to time your hike accordingly. But any time of year, wet or dry, is great and the drive alone might be worth it as you pass through classic small town New England with history and beauty of nature surrounding you all the way.

On our adventures we always seem to drive thru NV, so I am always searching
for things to do along the way. I found the HWY 50: The Loneliest Road in
America. I read the story behind the name and we decided to make that an
adventure in itself. We made all of the stops along the way; Great Basin,
Ely, Eureka, Austin, Fallon, Dayton, Fernley and we survuved HWY 50. This
photo was taken at our stop in Ely, NV at the Nevada Northern Railway

When it comes to showcasing bohemian grace wrapped in modern fashion, our little Prideens never like to say no. This was evident at the recently organized Fashion Show, where they left the onlookers stunned with their dynamic stage presence, confident speech and vibrant costumes. Their charming personalities pleasantly amalgamated with the elegant way they carried themselves. Parents and teachers were overjoyed to see their tiny trendsetters rock the ramp with their unique dash of style!
This dog lives in a nice house on the way up from our Hotel to Mall Road. He/she was initially not welcoming, then observed as we took photos and all, and eventually called out to us when we walked on :-)
I handed L the camera so I could climb up higher to get a better view of Sheena.. she was reluctant to give it back though. I'm glad--she took a couple wonderful shots.
My daughter Maria-Isabelle and her best friend Alisea. They're beautiful women now, time flies... They're 17 years old. <3
