While flipping through my archive in search of a cheerful photo to ring in the weekend, I stumbled upon this mallard beauty queen. When I saw her at Planten un Blomen, a lovely park in central Hamburg, posing so nicely on a rock at a small pond, I knew I had to take her photo. Isn't she pretty? I could swear that she was smiling at me :)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, dear Flickr friends :)

I love how this colors look at different times of the day.

I think so. This is a member of a free-ranging herd of several hundred Bison on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake that share grazing there with mule deer, pronghorn antelope and bighorn sheep. Twelve American bison were introduced on the island in the late 19th century, when the species was nearly extinct. They flourished in the near ideal habitat of dry grass prairie, devoid of apex predators (excepting man) and were maintained and hunted by private ranchers. In 1981 the State of Utah completed purchase of the island to create a state park. It is one of the few publicly managed herds of American bison, and one of the largest.

A woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. 18287

Alto Caparaó is known throughout the national territory for its natural beauty, and is one of the most beautiful regions in terms of ecotourism destinations for those who love and appreciate nature. A region of beautiful mountains that form a valley that surrounds the city, with an exuberant landscape, Alto Caparaó invites us to feel the fresh air, bathe in crystalline waters and fall in love with the climate and its natural beauties.

Although this photo was taken in August, very few of these American Goldfinches remain. The ones I've seen have rather dull plumage as they are set to migrate soon.

the violet-eared waxbill (uraeginthus granatinus -male-)

is a wonderful little bird.it belong to the waxbill family and it's mainly a seed eater.

these birds live in shrub dense thickets as the acacia you can see here.

What do you do with a bouquet of flowers?

When I saw the report that the Leucistic Bald Eagle made an appearance in the morning I knew I had to take my chances at this super rare raptor. I left at 4a.m. and drove two hours South. I had to wait for the sun to rise, but found him immediately crunching bones from a fish he was holding down on the mudflats. Shortly after he perched just above us next to the walking trail. Still no light but extremely close. He was very calm as he did not flinch when a jogger came by. He flew to this Eucalyptus several times and perched calmly for several minutes. The light was starting to filter through the leaves in the background as this majestic beauty posed for us. It was a very awe inspiring experience I will never forget. We had a solid two hours to photograph him that morning. He eventually flew off into the distance and we were admiring and reflecting on this one of a kind beauty.
