"This Bentley S-1 was purchased second hand by John Crittle who was a fashion designer in the 1960's London counter-cultere scene. John Lennon became a loyal customer of Crittle's shop named 'Dandie Fashions'. Crittle commisioned three young art students , Douglas Binder, Dudley Edwards and David Vaughn to paint his store front and the Bentley in the psychedelic style. Later, the Beatle's company Apple Corps. purchased Dandie Fashions and all its assets, including the Bentley."

This is a Silhouette of bronze statues of the four Beatles created by sculptor Andy Edwards & unveiled in 2015..........
For this week’s Macro Mondays theme of ‘Beatles/Beetles’ I have chosen to depict the Beatles song Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown). The song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and was first released on the album Rubber Soul in December 1965.
The ‘link’ in the image is the pinecone (from one of the pine family of trees - pine, spruce, fir, cedar etc), which is synonymous with Norway and the piece of bark which I picked up during a recent walk. The background is an artificial spruce Christmas tree. Needs must as they say!
For this shot, I have used 2 Bowens Gemini Esprit lights. The main light (camera left) is a GM250 fitted with a large softbox. The second is a GM125, which was placed above and to the rear of the subject. Another very simple lighting set-up!
Best if viewed large. It's found at the base if Fern Falls, about 5 miles off the North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene River in Northern Idaho State.
Forty years tucked away, my wife's treasured LP collection finally emerged from storage, sparked by a new turntable gifted at Christmas. Among them, a cherished 1968 double album: The Beatles' "White Album," featuring the timeless "Blackbird." This iconic song, a personal favorite and a musical touchstone, has resonated across generations, inspiring covers from Judy Collins, Neil Diamond, and Billy Preston, to its appearance on "Glee." Most recently, Beyoncé's 2024 rendition on "Cowboy Carter" propelled "Blackbird" to its highest-ever position on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Red-winged Blackbird:
A stocky, broad-shouldered blackbird with a slender, conical bill and a medium-length tail. Red-winged Blackbirds often show a hump-backed silhouette while perched; males often sit with tail slightly flared.
Male Red-winged Blackbirds are hard to mistake. They're an even glossy black with red-and-yellow shoulder badges. Females are crisply streaked and dark brownish overall, paler on the breast and often show a whitish eyebrow.
Male Red-winged Blackbirds do everything they can to get noticed, sitting on high perches and belting out their conk-la-ree! song all day long. Females stay lower, skulking through vegetation for food and quietly weaving together their remarkable nests. In winter Red-winged Blackbirds gather in huge flocks to eat grains with other blackbird species and starlings.

An iconic statue of the Fab Four, in their hometown. The Beatles Statue arrived on Liverpool's Waterfront in December 2015. Donated by the famous Cavern Club, the placement of the statue coincides with the 50 year anniversary of the band's last gig played in Liverpool, at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. It's the city's most popular selfie spot!
The statue is located on the Liverpool Pier Head, opposite the Mersey Ferries Building and in front of the famous Liver building with twin clock towers, each topped with a "Liver bird".
I used an ultrawide 12mm manual focus lens for this shot, which meant I had to get very close to the statue to get this view, but I think it gives a nice perspective. The photo was taken after sunset at blue hour. All of the clouds in the sky completely disappeared, leaving a plain blue sky, adding a graphic appearance against the yellow illumination of the Liver Building and the two flags.
HMM everyone!!
For the Macro Mondays theme "Beatles/Beetles" I wanted to illustrate their song 'Sun King'.
Here comes the sun king
Here comes the sun king
Everybody's laughing
Everybody's happy
Here comes the sun king
Quando paramucho mi amore de felice carazón
Mundo paparazzi mi amore chica ferdi para sol
Questo obrigado tanto mucho que canite carousel
"Sun King" is a song written primarily by John Lennon, but credited to Lennon–McCartney and recorded by the Beatles for their 1969 album Abbey Road.
If you want to read more about "SUN KING" or what ARE they saying at the end of the song?, here a link: beatlesong.info/mg/sun_king_deciphered.html
Thanks you, Michael Farrell for your input ;-)
The Beatles and I get by with a little help from our friends. :-) Happy Wednesday. Window and otherwise as well..
The statues of The Beatles, a popular beat-combo from Liverpool. Seen here in the low angled sunlight of a winters afternoon.
One of my son's favorite cars to play with a Volkswagon Beatle monster truck in metallic green, the car must be more then 10 years old and it is beaten up after this time of use.
HMM!!
This is what they call a "record", and plastic disc that is spun around, wherein a needle is placed in the groove, and sounds ensue. I like this one because it's blue, and the contents, of course.
Description provided for those who do not know what this relic from the past is, lol!
7th December 2015 - The new statue of The Beatles on Pierhead which was designed by Andy Edwards and unveiled to mark the 50th anniversary of the bands final Liverpool gig at the Empire theatre.
To me it almost looks like the 4 lads are walking back onto Pierhead together for the first time in 50 years and looking around them with an equal mixture of amazement, wonder and dismay...
The Beatles - „Rain“
www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK5G8fPmWeA
If the rain comes
They run and hide their heads
They might as well be dead
If the rain comes
If the rain comes
When the sun shines
They slip into the shade
(When the sun shines down)
And sip their lemonade
(When the sun shines down)
When the sun shines
When the sun shines
Rain, I don′t mind
Shine, the weather's fine
I can show you
That when it starts to rain
(When the rain comes down)
Everything′s the same
(When the rain comes down)
I can show you
I can show you
Rain, I don't mind
Shine, the weather's fine
Can you hear me?
That when it rains and shines
(When it rains and shines)
It′s just a state of mind
(When it rains and shines)
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?

Macro Mondays - 'Sound'
Pro-ject record deck plus rather famous
bought-on-the-day-of-release album seen through the smoked perspex lid.
The Beatles statues, Pier Head, Liverpool.
I never had the chance to meet the 'real' Beatles (unfortunately / obviously!!) but I've seen lots of footage of them over the years, but I think all four of the statues are amazing. There are some legendary bad statues of famous people, but these are brilliant.
After I took the shot, I noticed the four lads dressed in black sitting on the wall on the right. Its easy to judge by appearances, but presumably John, Paul, George and Ringo all hung around in Liverpool city centre at some point. Who could have guessed how things would work out for them? And how will things pan out for the lads sitting on the wall?
