...well... sort of.

there was a Beastie Boys concert too.

it was O.K.

just joking.

it was friggin AWESOME!

i rented the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 vr (MSRP $1700) from adorama for $45 total for 24 hours. not a bad deal, imho.

i had read alot of security not allowing zoom/large/slr lenses in this venue, so i planned/executed this following scheme.

i walked in alone without my wife & friends. i carried my d80 body only & small 35mmf20 lens. removed the SD card, stuck in 5th pocket. gave one battery to friend, one to wife. gave huge 70-200vr to wife (she is pretty- security guards let her get away with more, i have found).

as i walked in, one security said, wait, its a large camera. he called over another guard, who said, nah, only "large" lenses are not allowed. they didnt even check my wife's bag.

when the band finally started playing, and it got dark, i reached down and pulled out my 70-200. it was huge. i didnt have a chance to practice before the show, so it got some getting used to, but, overall, i was happy with it. i was in the center of the crowd.

around 30 minutes into the show, a huge (!!!) security guard grabbed me, said in my ear "you will put away that professional camera right now!" i said "ok", and tried to enjoy the rest of the show

overall, i think its a dumb rule. simply b/c the method the (un-knowledgeable) guards use is simply based on size. so once DSLRs shrink, it will be ok? or all cameras will not be allowed? or P&Ss in the front row should be allowed?

6/30.

Finding a tad of inspiration on a rainy day with a friends '64 taking up space in my driveway.

I had to go listen to that song (it had been awhile). And that damn riff is going to be in my head the rest of the night....

It's a sobering thought that every one of the Beastie Boys are now in their mid-40s. How much sadder can sad bokeh friday get?

Mmmm... it does go well with the chicken.

Possibly someone down there in the comments clicked through on to the 300,000th view of something of mine on Flickr. Thank you, anonymous person whoever you were. You're great. Truly you are. Much better than that paltry 299,999th viewer. Meh to them.

Solo mission with the headphones and a selection of Beastie Boys album's,i grew up with this group from nicking VW's off cars through to getting high with Check Your Head...

I went to get a loan and they asked my race, so i wrote human inside the space.

* he was listening to the Beastie Boys while he was doing this

Double expo + tripod swap with a77 & standard kit lens 18-55mm @f/13.

Shot 2 full power flashs left & right behind me first @22mm. Then lens capped & swap to another tripod and a prepared tube. Set right focus @33mm. Fired some trickstick magic in front of the tube. Set right focus to macro. Then lit up the tube from behind the cam with an orange gelled torch. That´s the magic. Any questions?

It was a mess to build the setup in my lp padded cell... :P Cheers fellas & happy days! :)

As Hurricane Irene pummeled my house, I made this.

Wypluj orzech jak do mnie mówisz, bo nic nie rozumiem ;-)

Squirrels,

All we really are is Squirrels,

We're being hunted we are Squirrels,

We are appealing we are Squirrels,

We want to gather nuts,

But, people splatter our guts,

When they're on a country drive,

It isn't easy to survive,

back in the other day,

I saw a squirrel get blown away,

They served him on a dinner tray,

They baked him into a souffle,

Squirrel season opens up today,

If you're a squirrel run away,

I don't know what else I should say,

Please call the A.S.P.C.A.

Fur coats from us are made,

Fur is nice but, I like suede,

They scrape our fur off with a blade,

And never bother with first aid,

We squirrels really like to play,

And we like to catch some rays,

Please don't kill us this we pray,

We're cute and harmless anyway,

Squirrels!,

We're not delicious,

Squirrels!,

We are not racoons,

Squirrels!,

Don't live in palm trees,

Squirrels!,

or in your bathrooms!

Squirrels!,

That's all we really are is squirrels,

Isn't it fine I am a squirrel,

Please help us save us,

We are squirrels!,

I wanna whip out my, squirrel!

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

Squirrels!,

SQUIRRELS!

often found occupying the space between land and sky. this would have been a fun shot for alice's leap year project that we were doing last year... which got sidelined due to her various injuries. here's hoping that 2013 treats her better!

this week i have been slowly increasing her level of exercise and she is handling it just fine. she is delighted to be running again! she is not showing any signs of lameness, has a nice balanced gait when she's moving, no dragging of her right hind foot, and she is now allowing me to gently stretch that leg. she is still receiving laser therapy twice weekly, but may soon decrease to once weekly. no agility training for at least another week, because she is just soooo crazy when she gets out there! i am pleased with her progress! keep feeling good, alice girl.

Beastie Boys Adam Yauch - Trail Blazer R.I.P. Sending gratitude and love to your spirit that inspired us all.
