Ice flow traveling down the Fraser River from Northern British Columbia, Canada

The Fraser River /ˈfreɪzər/ is the longest river within British Columbia, Canada, rising at Fraser Pass near Blackrock Mountain in the Rocky Mountains and flowing for 1,375 kilometres (854 mi), into the Strait of Georgia just south of the City of Vancouver]. The river's annual discharge at its mouth is 112 cubic kilometres (27 cu mi) or 3,550 cubic metres per second (125,000 cu ft/s), and it discharges 20 million tons of sediment into the ocean.

The river is named after Simon Fraser, who led an expedition in 1808 on behalf of the North West Company from the site of present-day Prince George almost to the mouth of the river.

As beautiful as this mountain highway is, wintery conditions can serve to be treacherous.

I love the colours of autumn in Vancouver

The shadows and raindrops on this full bloomed tiger lily are just so wonderful to try and capture! The glittering sparkle and the shades of yellow.. so soft and brilliant at the same time!

Although quite pretty, this is an invasive plant in BC. It grows up to 3 feet tall in perfect conditions and forms a large seed ball at the end of it's 1.5 month blooming season.

I think this is an Anna's but not certain. If it isn't, please let me know. I saw this at the Ladner Marsh.

Always watching for interesting clouds and sky phenomena; this cloud appeared one day and seemed so much like some sort of unusual orb swirling in the sky, hovering and watching...

Another shot of the clear and calm Kettle River in BC.

There were no other puddles around... and in this puddle, three little crow fledgings were dancing and bathing unabated...

The sunlight found it's way through the Ponderosa Pine trees that border our garden to shine on the Poppy foliage rendering many shades of green.

The intensity of this little fellah, wasn't quite sure if he was going to lunge or just sit and stare at me. I just stood and stared back with my camera and spoke gently to him to convey I wasn't any problem for him. Say "cheese"?

Here's another shot of the Northern Harrier. I like the way the sun is hitting this Harrier.

Thanks everyone for you nice responses.!!...made Explore for May 20, 2007. #167....!!

Got out today for a walk around a small marsh that is close to where we live.

Found two Canada Geese enjoying their day.....they were on a small rise in the middle of the marsh....covered with logs and driftwood, when I first arrived.........thought it was possible that one of them was sitting on a nest..........but after about 10 minutes.....they both took to the water.....and came over close to where I was sitting....

They seemed very tame.....but always cautious and watching me....and I was delighted when I could sit and watch them so close while they were feeding on the roots of the grasses along the lake edge.......

Thought maybe they might be aggressive.......but they were more curious .....and possibly related me to free food.....being this marsh is close to houses....

Anyways.....I enjoyed taking close to a 100 pictures..."the bonus of digital"...........and......out of all of them.... only have a few keepers......

I have a total respect for those photographers that have a fascination for bird photography...........they have to be one of the hardest subjects to capture.....catching the moment....getting good clarity.....and exposure.........working with the sun ...and foliage that always seems to jeopardize every good aim....!!

Certainly have proven to myself.....I need lots of practice for this venue......but when you do get a good shot.......oh what joy....!!

Think I will be going here often....and keep practicing......maybe if I'm lucky.......they will have a family to show off.

Just shortly after watching the Inauguration this morning.....I walked outside......and this is what greeted me......!......I positive sign that history and change in how we see our world has happened today.....it's a good feeling........!!.......and no truer words were spoken this morning.....it goes for all of us......no matter where we live.......!!
