I brought my camera but only took about 4 shots all weekend (lots of distractions), but glad I snapped this one as the facial expressions sum it all up pretty well.

MKSG The X-Men: Survival - Issue #9
X-Mansion - 2 a.m.
It’s getting late, and Sean can’t sleep. He’s worried about the Purifiers, about his missing Brother, about Mutants in general. He’s restless. He thinks maybe he should’ve gone with the older kids; Kitty and Peter, and their friends, but he didn't feel quite up to it yet.
Earlier in the day, Kitty had introduced him to her friends, who were around their age, and a few years older than Sean. Their names are Benjamin Hamill, Sooraya Qadir and Angel Salvadore, also known as Match, Dust and Tempest. They all made up their 'code-names' years ago, hoping to use them when they one day join the X-Men. Peter's is 'Colossus', and Kitty's is 'Shadowcat'. He still doesn’t feel like he fits in here yet, even with his own code-name: Banshee.
Sean is alone in his room. His roommates were Colossus and Match, as well as a kid his own age called Beak. His real name was Barnell Bohusk, but he went by ‘Beak’. Going looking for him, Sean makes his way out of his room, and sneaks downstairs and into the Living Room. There he finds Peter’s younger sister, Illyana, and Beak, watching cartoons. It’s Phineas and Ferb, by the looks of it.
“Hey guys, can I join you? I can’t sleep...” Sean says, nervously.
They turn to him suddenly, as if he startled them.
“Oh dude! We thought you were Mr. Drake or Mr. Wagner! Of course you can, the first few nights are always rough,” Beak laughs. His voice is somewhat bizarre, coming from a literal beak, but it’s honestly one of the least weird things about this place, given there is a literal superhero team operating from the basement, who are also their school teachers.
“So what are you guys doing up so late?” Sean asks, getting comfy on the couch.
“I’m staying up for my brother. I guess I just worry he’ll get hurt out there… I wish he wouldn’t go...” Illyana replies.
“And I keep her company” Beak says, grinning overtly.
“Well there must be something around here to do that beats cartoons. Any suggestions?” Sean proposes.
“Well… There is this one place...” says Beak, cracking another smile.
The trio make their way cautiously across the corridor. Illyana says she has memorised a path across the floorboards that doesn’t make them creak, so Beak and Sean follow behind her. None of them want to wake up any of the Professors, although Mr. Summers, AKA Cyclops, and Ms. Munroe, AKA Storm, aren’t here tonight. They’ve gone into the city for some kind of TV appearance on ‘The Stryker Show’. Sean hated that show…
They travel across the main hall, then into the corridor with all of the staff offices in. At the end of this corridor is a short flight of stairs, heading downwards. At the base of the stairs, is an irregular round metal door, almost bunker like, with a large X symbol across it. Beside it, a number pad, which Illyana quickly puts a 6 number code into, something else she must’ve memorised.
“Quickly! Before Kurt or Bobby hear us!” she says urgently, in a hushed voice, as the door unlocks quickly.
After they’ve stepped inside, the door automatically re-locks with a loud KAKRANG!
“I’m guessing this place is what I think it is...” Sean says, in amazement.
“Yep. The X-Men headquarters.” Illyana announces.
A long, silvery corridor with rows of doors either side. It looks pristine, but also like it was designed about 20 years ago. The doors have several signs above them; The Danger Room, Observation Deck, The Lab, The Blackbird, The Armoury, and more. At the end of the corridor, as sign reads ‘Cerebro’, whatever that means.
“Come on, this way!” She adds, leading us into The Armoury.
The room is messy inside, with lots of boxes and equipment lying around. But most noticeably, on their own plinths, are The X-Men’s Uniforms.
“Woah!” Sean says, admiring the uniforms of the current X-Men; Storm, Iceman, Nightcrawler and Cyclops. In-between them, other uniforms. Sean recognises Phoenix’s and Professor X’s wheelchair, and also sees other names, like Angel and Beast. However, their costumes are missing.
“This one is my favourite…” Illyana says, holding up a red, black and yellow costume that looks brand-new. On the box, it reads: Colossus.
Suddenly, Beak starts to flap his arms about. They hear the loud KAKRANG! of the main door again.
“Someone’s coming!” he shrieks.
They panic! Beak, Sean and Illyana run and hide behind a stack of other costume boxes, hoping they don’t get caught as they can hear distant voices approaching.
“It can’t be true, Kurt! We have to check it out! I refuse to believe they’re dead until I see for myself!” Bobby Drake shouts to Kurt Wagner as the pair enter The Armoury in a hurry.
“Well ze police seemed to confirm it! If it’z true… If Scott and Ororo are really gone...” Kurt responds, getting into uniform.
“Well they aren’t! Not until I see! Now let’s get a move on!” Bobby snaps, pulling on his purple trench coat.
With a sudden BAMF! the pair then disappear. Illyana, Sean and Beak come out of hiding, unsure how to process the information they just absorbed.
“What… What do we do?” Sean asks, unsure what else to do.
“I… I dunno, man. Damn...” Beak says, completely shook.
“We hold the fort, that’s what.” Illyana interject.
“With Nightcrawler and Iceman gone, and my brother and Kitty away with their friends, there’s no one else here to hold down X-Mansion. We should do it, just in case something happens, right…?” she says.
With her leading them, the trio go back upstairs into the main hallway. They grab chairs and pull them into the main hall, and sit in a triangle, facing away from each other, not really sure what else to do. They’re there for at least an hour, and Sean falls asleep at some point. Suddenly, he is awoke.
“Sean, Illyana, I can hear something!” Beak whispers loudly, waking them up.
Then, all of a sudden, a large dart bursts through a window and lands right in Beak’s chest, and he collapses off his chair.
“Run, Sean!” Illyana shouts, before she too is tranquilised.
Sean, sure his fate is sealed, does the only thing he can do to warn the other mutants in the Mansion.
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEE!” he sonic-screams, at the top of his lungs, until a few darts hit him directly in the chest.
The last thing he sees before passing out is Purifier soldiers descending from the ceiling windows above him, with their dart guns drawn, storming the Mansion.
MKSG The X-Men: Survival - Issue #10
Central New York City, Upper Manhattan - 4 a.m.
Kurt and Bobby have been talking with police officers on the scene for the last 2 hours. Their friends, their family, Ororo Munroe and Scott Summers, also known as Storm and Cyclops, had been killed in a car crash. Bobby didn't believe a word of it.
“So how long until the lab results get back to us?! I need proof it was them!”
“Sir, please calm down,” the officer says, as Bobby attempts again to push past her and get to the wreckage of Scott's car, still smoking at the side of the road.
“Bobby. Maybe ve just 'ave to face it. They're just… gone,” Kurt says, thinking Bobby is in denial.
“No way Kurt! Absolutely not! There's no way in hell that two members of the X-Men get killed in a car crash! I bet Stryker had something to do with it, that bastard! They were just leaving his show!”
Then, the officer's radio buzzes.
***BUZZT ALL UNITS REPORT IN. GUN FIGHT IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN. 48TH AND 6TH. OFFICERS SAYING IT'S A MUTANT ATTACK AT THE STRYKER SHOW!***
Bobby and Kurt look at each other, as the police officers rush off, leaving the firefighters to deal with the wreckage.
“What if it's them, Elf?” Bobby says hopefully.
Without hesitation, Kurt throws off the cloak that was hiding his face, revealing his X-Men outfit. Bobby activates his powers, turning his body to ice, and he too discards his cloak which concealed his outfit. Kurt then grabs Bobby's arm, and they disappear with a BAMF
The next second, they arrive outside the studio in Manhattan where 'The Stryker Show' is filmed. Police have surrounded the building, and SWAT are just pulling up outside too.
“We need to get in there before they do!” Bobby says, as Kurt teleports them inside. They arrive in the main filming hall, but there's no one about.
Suddenly, the main stage doors burst open and 4 Purifier soldiers come running out, terrified. The doors swing shut behind them. They take one look at Nightcrawler and Iceman, and continue fleeing past them.
Then Kurt and Bobby hear something loud and bassy. Footsteps. Very heavy footsteps, coming closer and closer.
BAM BAM BAM BAM
The doors explode off their hinges as a humongous man plows through, followed by 4 other mutants. Kurt and Bobby recognise half of them immediately.
Before them stands Magneto, Blob and Toad, as well as 3 others they don't recognise. By the looks of them, they are, or were, Morlocks, also known as ‘Sewer Mutants’.
The Purifiers continue running to the other side of the room, but Magneto plucks metal bars from the seats and barricades the doors. Toad uses his tongue to grab the weapons from 2 Purifiers at they attempt to retaliate, but he's too quick. Blob is about to squish one of them, but Nightcrawler teleports under his foot, then teleports the Purifier away from immediate danger. Iceman aims his hands at Magneto and Toad.
“Stop trying to kill them, Magneto!” He warns.
Magneto lowers himself from the air and chuckles.
“Well well well, if it isn't some unfriendly faces. The X-Men.”
After a moment of tension, Magneto waves his hand and his Acolytes stop attacking.
“Vhat are you doing here?” Kurt asks, while rounding up the 4 Purifiers and tying them all to a pole.
“We could ask you the same thing, Nightcrawler. We're here for Stryker, wherever the coward is hiding.” Magneto replies.
“We're here for him too” Bobby replies. “We think he did something to Storm and Cyclops.”
“Ah yes, 'The Weather Girl' and the 'One-eyed Wonder'. I did notice you were missing even more ranks. Speaking of, how is Angel these days? And 'The Beastie'?” Magneto taunts.
“That's enough,” Bobby responds.
Magneto nods. “Okay. Well you're looking for Stryker, and we're looking for Stryker. How about we help each other out for a bit?”
He extends a war-torn hand.
“Only if you don't kill ze prisoners here” Kurt interjects.
Stubbornly, Magneto nods and agrees, and Bobby shakes his hand.
“I'm only doing this to help Charles' children, and find Stryker,” Magneto adds.
“I know. But we need all the help we can get.” Bobby says in return.
Then, Bobby's cell phone rings. It's Kitty. Annoyed, he answers.
“Look, nobody is coming to pic- oh. Oh god. Okay, we're on the way”
Bobby looks at Kurt. “We need to get back to the Mansion ASAP. Can you get us all there, Kurt?”
“Probably, halthough zere are quite a lot of us” he says.
Just then, they hear SWAT start to mobilise outside.
“Grab one of the Purifiers too. The woman. Maybe they can help us find who we’re looking for…” Magneto says, as Nightcrawler grabs ahold of everyone, then grabs onto one of the Purifier prisoners with his tail.
“Here ve go!” he says, as SWAT storm the room.
With a sudden BAMF, all the Mutants disappear, headed to X-Mansion.

Boring photo for a boring day.
This is my sister's room, she's at a friends house. I used to have this room, but I moved into a bigger room. Only downside is that I miss all this beautiful natural light. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.
Question: Do you believe in the ultimate perfectibility of mankind?
I'm thinking of starting a series. Stay tuned..
But tomorrow I may do something to commemorate shark week. We'll see.

I think I am finally in a good spot with my own creation of an Overlanding Rig made entirely out of LEGO. I did this buy purchasing sets 60115 and 60117, combining them, and then going crazy with it. I love it!
Some small tweaks left to do (mainly the green mudflap area), but this it where I will leave it for a while.

I really like how this whole session turned out, these were cool guys and they were really easy to work with. I knew their vocalist Trevor from his last band Like Empires and now he's moved on to this. I'm really expecting their new EP to be super sick.

MKSG The X-Men: Survival - Issue #3
Basement of X-Mansion
“You ready, Kitty?” asks Peter, reassuringly. Last time they trained in the Danger Room… well it didn't go as planned. They're a lot stronger and better prepared this time though, or at least that's what the pair of them had told Mr. Summers to convince him to let them do this.
“Yep, let's do it” she replies with some false confidence, as Bobby swaggers over to the couple.
“Alright, Kurt and I are in there with you, Ororo, Scott and Illyana will be watching and assessing your performance. Let's get out there and show them what we've got, as a team, yeah?” says Bobby.
“Sure thing, ‘Iceman’” Kitty replies with a smirk. She wished she had an official codename, but only field operatives receive them, which is what her and Peter were training to become. Having lost Warren and Hank, the X-Men were a little short handed these days, and ‘Shadowcat’ and ‘Colossus’ were feeling ready to join the ranks.
They geared up; ‘Iceman’, ‘Shadowcat’ and ‘Colossus’ were to think on their feet to remove an unknown threat and also save Kurt, who was playing the hostage. Up in the observation deck, Scott is excited to unleash his design upon the team, that he's been working on for several months now. Beside him resides Headmistress Ororo Munroe, who remembers far back when she first used the Danger Room, along with Scott, Hank, Jean, Bobby, Warren and, of course, Professor Xavier. It was to help train his team of extraordinary students to defend against threats to Mutant-kind and humans alike, if it came to that.
5… Kitty pants nervously 4… 3… 2…1… BEEP!
The X-Men burst into the room and take offence positions, but see nothing threatening initially. Kitty spots Kurt hanging from the ceiling in a cramped metal cage, electricity running through the bars. It must be stopping him using his powers, she figures. Her objective is to rescue Kurt while Bobby and Peter neutralise the hostile. She spots a generator connected to the cage, but as she’s about to point this out, something humongous and robotic crashes down on top of them all!
Kitty and Bobby fall over dramatically, then scramble to their feet. Peter also gets knocked back but remains steady. He’s the first to retaliate against the foe. He armours himself up as he slams into one of the creatures 8 mechanical legs and yanks it with all his considerable might. Metal meets metal, and an extremely loud screeching sound happens as the leg is torn from its hinges.
“Damn, Pete” exclaims Scott, while Ororo smirks. She has more confidence in the team's ability than most.
“Yes!” Illyanna says under her breath, cheering for her brother, not that he’d be able to hear her.
The team regain attack formation as the Spider-like beast circles around for a second attack, scuttling around the walls and defending it’s hostage. Oil and mechanical pieces are leaking from it's severed limb. They get a better look at the giant critter of Scott's creation. It's not purely a spider. It has the body of a man attached to the torso of an 8, well… 7, legged being.
“Drider…” Bobby exclaims, mildly surprised. “Really Scotty?” he shouts towards the observation deck. “D&D creatures again?”
Scott chuckles at this, but straightens his face to tell him: “Focus on your objective, Bobby” through the speaker. “Do I need to remind you what that is?”
“No need to be a…!”
*THUMP*
The drider whacks Bobby across the room with it’s extended tail before he can finish his retort.
Kitty watches as Peter attacks before the Drider can reach Bobby, who is lying on the floor half-dazed. She’s very glad to not be on the offensive for this exercise. Her mission is hostage extraction, not to deal this horrible spiders. She sprints over to the generator she previously spotted and figures it's easy enough.
‘I’ve just gotta phase into the generator, disable it, open the cage and save the elf’
However, as she attempts to reach into the generator, her fingertips are met with warm, humming metal. She can’t phase through.
‘Scott is probably so smug right now’ she thinks bitterly, glaring upwards at the observation deck. Sure enough, Scott notices her, as does Ororo, who glances over at him.
“What did you do Scott?” Ororo inquires.
“Little bit of reverse engineering of her powers. It’s not very nice, I know, but they won’t get liberties in the field”Scott replies, just a little bit proud of his mechanical accomplishments.
Beside them, Illyanna is engrossed by the fight. Bobby and Peter have taken to the tactic of freezing the Drider’s limbs, then smashing them off with ease. Their only problem: Getting the damn thing to stay still. Kitty, searching her mind for ideas of how to rescue Kurt, see what her teammates are attempting to do.
‘Freezing the metal then crushing it will destroy it, huh?’, she thinks to herself, sparking an idea in her head.
“Hey”, she yells at her team. “Let it come get me!”
Peter has the thing in headlock when he hears her call. “We’ve got this!” he calls back.
“Guys!” Kitty yells over the mechanical screeching of the creature trying to break free. “YOU need to save Kurt, and destroy that!” she shouts as she gestures heavily towards the power generator.
A little unsure, Peter and Bobby look at each other to confide, but as then do, Peter accidentally loosens his grip and Bobby isn’t fully focused. The drider breaks free of them both and with a swift *SWISH* of its tail, swipes them across the room towards Kurt and the generator. As this happens, Kitty runs right into the middle of the room.
“Come at me!” she yells, antagonistically. “I really hope this works”, she mutters, as the drider turns to face her.
Getting to their feet, Bobby and Peter are reluctant to leave the drider to Kitty alone, but they realise her plan. Bobby begins smothering the generator with a layer of hard ice and reassures Kurt, shouting “We’re coming for ya buddy!” in his typical, overly-positive tone.
Meanwhile, Peter can only watch in horror as the Drider makes its aggressive charge for Kitty. As it’s approaching her, she prepares herself, counting down in her head the distance.
‘Okay 20m, 10m, now 5m, oh god 2m!’
“No!” shouts Peter desperately, positive that the Drider just crushed her. The Drider continues at full speed, directly into the opposing wall, making a colossal crash and magnificently exploding into a thousand nuts and bolts.
For a moment, even Ororo is thinking the worst. However, as some of the debris and smoke clears, Kitty is standing just where she was stood, completely unscathed.
‘She phased through, of course!’ Peter realises, just as Bobby yells “Now!” and Peter runs and jumps onto the generator.
*CRACKK*
With a colossal punch, Peter cracks all the ice and the machine that it encompassed. The electricity fizzling through the metal bars of the cage halts.
“Yay! Woohoo!” Ilyanna shouts, jumping up and down and clapping for their victory. Ororo and Scott also feel very proud of their teams accomplishment, not that Scott necessarily show it.
Peter runs over to Kitty at speed and picks her up with a giant hug.
“I almost thought I’d lost you” he caringly says.
“I’m not going anywhere” she responds.
They both hear a familiar BAMF and then feel Kurt’s arms and tail encompassing them both.
“Nice job, you guys” the fuzzy blue man says with his thick German accent.
“Thanks, Elf” Kitty replies softly.
I remember sitting in the theater during Iron Man with a friend, and watching the stinger at the end that revealed Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and effectively redefined the modern blockbuster. Iron Man was seen as a shot-in-the-dark movie at the time, and while the original still stands as the best, in large […]

George Thomas Coubrough was known to his family and friends as "Bud." The second of their three children, Bud was his parents' only son. Bud's father, Harve, himself one of four sons of Matt and Liz Coubrough of Ogema, Saskatchewan, to have served overseas in the First World War, was one of only two who came home. Bud had celebrated his 20th birthday a little over a month before his plane crashed into a power line during a training flight, leaving behind his parents, two sisters, Edith and Evelyn, and his best girl, Jac. Coubrough Lake in northern Saskatchewan (near Lac LaRonge) is named for Bud. (There is a picture of George taken in the Spring of 1942 at these sites)

MKSG The X-Men: Survival - Issue #5
Boston, Massachusetts - 3 Days Ago
“Sean! Grab your shit, we’re leaving! 1 minute!” Tom shouts as he storms through the door of the Cassidy house, leaving his car half-parked and still running on the driveway.
Sitting up quickly from the couch, “What do you mean?!” Sean Cassidy questions woefully.
“I mean that they’ve found us, and that means we have to leave, now!” Tom snaps at his younger brother as he rushes upstairs.
Understanding exactly what this means, Sean reacts quickly. His homework will have to wait. He’s going on the run. It was only a matter of time until someone found out that he and his brother were mutants, and the time seemed to have come. He raced upstairs, slid into his room and yanked the backpack from under his bed that he’d had packed for the last 12 months. He runs back downstairs and out the door.
“Where are we headed” the 14 year old asks his older brother, quizzically.
X-Mansion Lawn - Today
“Help me!!” yells Sean, desperate and afraid. Once they’d got his brother Tom, he started towards the only place he could think of: Xavier’s School for Gifted Mutants. His mother’s friend, who he always called Aunt Moira, had told him if he was ever in any trouble, to come here, and the people here would help him.
“Help! Please!!” he yelps. Hot on his heel - a military-style truck following him up the lawn, filled with ‘Purifiers’. Mutant-hunters for hire. Ruthless and terrifying, with their thoughts poisoned by bigoted TV personalities such as William Stryker, spreading mutant-hatred and fear.
Sean realises there is no way that he can outrun the truck before he gets to the grand mansion itself. Putting on a brave face, he does the only thing he can do: try to stand his ground.
He stops running and tries to turn around and face his oppressors, but his knees are weak and give way. He still has one trick up his sleeve though…
The truck pulls up, about 20 feet away. He’s feeling faint and almost breathless, but he doesn’t hesitate to defend himself.
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEE!”
He screams with his sonic abilities! The forceful blast flips the truck sideways several times and the Purifiers inside shout in dismay as they are tosses around violently. The truck lands back on it’s 6 wheels and several of the soldiers pile out, a couple throwing up.
Then, behind him, he hears an unfamiliar sound
BAMF!
He looks behind him in desperation to see 4 colourful figures, all with an X logo on their belt.
‘It’s the X-Men!’
The Purifier soldiers from the truck scramble and flee in all different directions from the X-Men. Storm flies up above the lawn and hovers on the winds she can control. Her eyes turn white and the skies quickly turn from blue to a dark, cloudy grey. With great might, she summons down a powerful lightning bolt. It strikes the overturned truck and then, KABBOOM! It explodes into a million pieces.
One of the doors from the truck hurtles towards him, flaming and fast. Sean covers his head with his hands as he feels the intense warmth from Cyclops’ optic beam over him, hearing the PZZZRKKTT! of it as it slices the door in half, so the pieces land either side of the team.
Sean reveals himself from under his arms to see Iceman covering the flaming wreck with snow and ice. Storm stands over him, and offers Sean a hand up. He goes to accept and pull himself up, but he’s so exhausted. Sean gently collapses onto the green grass of Xavier’s Mansion, home to the X-Men.
It was Senior Superhero day at school and I chose to be Rogue from X Men! I think I looked quite rogue-esque but so many people mistook me for Storm...or just an old granny (gray hair and all.)
Some people didn't even know who Rogue was and that shocked me the most. I mean come on, she has to wear gloves all the time because if she touches you, you pretty much go unconscious (or die) and she steals your powers. How BAMF is that?
...my x men badge looks like a cross.
