Baja California is a popular resort destination, but also a sanctuary for nature. And very photogenic!

The Baja California, peninsula, such an interesting piece of land, stretching 1000 km long with water on each side. Although these two pictures were taken at different times the zoom on Cabo San Luca shows similar clouds formations, I wonder if they are common in the area.

Quite often I find that one Lego piece can inspire a whole build; in this case it's the (new-ish) brick, round corner 3 x 3 x 1 without studs. The exceptionally talented hachiroku24 has used them a few times to great effect as mudguard/wheelarch/fender pieces and this got me thinking…
My little Christmas cracker this year is an 8-wide Baja Bug, basically a chopped up VW Beetle, modified for desert racing. Sometimes, these are quite close to an original VW, just some bigger wheels/tyres and raised suspension , whilst at the other end of the scale they may be as extreme as space-framed off-road buggies with all manner of engines fitted with some vestige of a Beetle shell on top.
Mine is closer to the original concept, some body modifications and a a big lift, but still keeping the VW floorpan and engine.
Unfortunately Lego still have a big gap in their tyre range at this scale, 24mm is too small for the front wheels and the same size as the rears would not look right. Therefore, please forgive the naughty tyre stretching needed to create the feel I wanted.
