Thanks to my friend Thomas L Lehn from Heidelberg for giving me the rare pics of BAD COMPANY live in Ludwigshafen April 1977. --- Vocals and guitar Paul Rodgers. Left in the back - bassman Boz Burrell (Ex-King Crimson) right, on drums Ex-Free Simon Kirke.
He's a tour guide at
Bethel Woods - the site of the
1969 Woodstock Festival -
where I was last week to work
on a documentary on Bad Company
(for the UK company IMPACT FILMS).
Duke took us on a little
tour of the Woodstock grounds -
he told me he had come
to Woodstock, the festival, from
Texas
when he was 23 - and never
left. "You mean it's over?" he said.
Now he's got a job
giving tours, which seems
about as perfect
as perfection gets.
He knew my pal Henry Diltz,
who was the official photographer
of Woodstock - but everyone in
the know knows Henry.
One member of our party,
perhaps still hearing echoes
from the Clinton era - asked
Duke if he "inhaled."
Duke looked at her soberly,
smiled,
and said,
"My problem was that
I never exhaled."

At the Inaugural Gear Jam nostalgia drags and car show, Atlanta Dragway, Commerce, GA, on September 28, 2013.
Waynes World! Excellent!
Shortly after the 9-11 attacks, Journey, Styx, Bad Company, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, Peter Frampton, Edgar Winter, Jack Blades, Eddie Money and Drew Carey put on a couple of benefit concerts in Atlanta and Dallas called the Volunteers For America
My friend Roger and I headed to the show. Roger is friends with Jack Blades and after we parked he called him. Jack Blades made arrangements for us to be escorted backstage.
It was just like Waynes World. I had the biggest smile on my face you ever saw. There I was backstage with all these Rock icons running around.
Much of the music I listened to my whole life was written by these folks. What a dream to be able to meet so many of your heroes at once.
EVERYWHERE I looked they were running around. James Young, Tommy Shaw, Glen Burtnik and Jack Blades were the first folks we met.
We took photos with many of the performers.
Peter Frampton was almost bald headed. What happened to that hair?
I even took photos of myself sitting at Jonathan Cain’s piano and sitting on Deen Castronovo’s drum set.
Party On Wayne! Party On Garth!
We had a ball!
Thanks Roger Ruzek! If it weren’t for you it would never have happened!
