Alas I know nothing whatsoever about flowers and it is only a guess that this is an orchid. At this point I would have been about five thousand feet up in the foothills of the High Caucasus in Azerbaijan so with that information if anyone can identify the bloom please feel free to let me know. I have given this photo this title because the location was called Eagles Point. We saw non at this time but in our return got a fabulous view of a huge gliding eagle.
In the country of Azerbaijan there is a huge transition in the modes of transport seen on the roads when you head out of the big city. Baku has the likes of Mercedes, Bentley, and even a Rolls Royce dealership right in the heart of the city. Head out of town a little way and cars are typically ten year old but still of modern design. By the time the true countryside is reached the vehicle stock is dominated by the Lada Riva as seen here and then lastly when the more remote settlements of the country are reached ancient army trucks and even horseback is the way of the world.
This photo was taken firmly in the territory of the ancient army truck and depicts a Lada Riva that appears to have benefitted from a rather basic respray.
I don't know what that old white hut is but my guess is that given its remote location and the flag holder fastened to the top right of the structure that it was previously some form of control point. This is the only road in a remote valley and is probably just twenty miles from the Russian border. We did see a modern border police office some way down the road and perhaps this unit was an outlier at some point.
