Watching this Bumblebee search for nectar brought to mind that axiom... "Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy"

The Bumblebee:

Bumblebees are social insects that form colonies with a single queen. The colonies are smaller than those of honeybees, growing to as few as 50 individuals in a nest. Cuckoo bumblebees are brood parasitic and do not make nests or form colonies; their queens aggressively invade the nests of other bumblebee species, kill the resident queens and then lay their own eggs, which are cared for by the resident workers.

Bumblebees have round bodies covered in soft hair called 'pile', making them appear and feel fuzzy. They have warning coloration, often consisting of contrasting bands of color.

Like their relatives the honeybees, bumblebees feed on nectar, using their long hairy tongues to lap up the liquid; the proboscis is folded under the head during flight. Bumblebees gather nectar to add to the stores in the nest, and pollen to feed their young.

They forage using color and spatial relationships to identify flowers to feed from. Some bumblebees steal nectar, making a hole near the base of a flower to access the nectar while avoiding pollen transfer. Bumblebees are important agricultural pollinators, so their decline in Europe, North America, and Asia is a cause for concern. The decline has been caused by habitat loss, the mechanization of agriculture, and pesticides.

Thank you to Axiom for posing without knowing.

No dolphins or owners were harmed during the shoot.

Looking out toward the Salish Sea, I was reminded of an axiom of photography. It is an accepted practice to avoid shooting directly into or toward the sun. However, adhering to what others say, might result in missing out on an opportunity.

The sun was directly overhead, and the light was far too much for the sensor. As a result, a sparkling effect rises on the water, heavy contrasts result in lines, and a coloured background appears under an exceptionally dark cloud.

Along the horizon a tug boat pulls its barge and a story ensues. That is to say, harsh conditions will not prevent this Captain from fulfilling his duty.

A sign from my installation, Ozymandias. I do builds, too. : )

If you have a chance, please stop by and view the show. Look for the poem, Ozymandias, then go down the stairs. There's even some free art in the cat by the stairs.

Ozymandias can be seen at Terpsicorps. Once you visit Ozymandias, please feel free to explore the rest of this wonderful sim:

NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket with the Orion spacecraft aboard is seen atop a mobile launcher at Launch Complex 39B as the Artemis I launch team prepares for the next attempt of the wet dress rehearsal test, right, as a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with the company's Crew Dragon spacecraft aboard is seen on the launch pad at Launch Complex 39A as preparations continue for Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1), Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Ax-1 mission is the first private astronaut mission to the International Space Station. Ax-1 crew members Commander Michael López-Alegría of Spain and the United States, Pilot Larry Connor of the United States, and Mission Specialists Eytan Stibbe of Israel, and Mark Pathy of Canada are scheduled to launch on April 8 from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. The Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM), used during the Space Shuttle Program to transfer cargo to and from the International Space Station, is loaded into NASA's Super Guppy aircraft at the Launch and Landing Facility runway at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 25, 2023. The MPLM will be transported to Ellington Field in Houston, where it will then be transported by road to Axiom’s facility near Ellington to be utilized to further commercialization of space. Three MPLMs were built by Thales Alenia Space Italia (TASI) for the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and named after Italian masters (Leonardo, Raffaello, and Donatello). Only two ever flew to the space station, Leonardo and Raffaello, with Axiom intending to use the Raffaello module as a future element that will attach to a segment being built by the company for addition to the station. SpaceX Falcon 9 launch with the Axiom-2 mission headed to the ISS at 5:37 p.m. EDT, from LC-39A on the Kennedy Space Center

The International Space Station (ISS) in a passage past the waxing crescent Moon, Venus (between the ISS and Moon) and Mars (at upper left). Above the Moon and Venus are the stars Castor and Pollux in Gemini. At lower left above the thunderstorm clouds is Procyon in Canis Minor, while at far right in Capella in Auriga. This is overlooking the prairie lake, the Crawling Valley Reservoir in southern Alberta, on May 22, 2023. The ISS is rising out of the west and climbing up the sky. At this time the private Axiom Ax-2 mission from SpaceX was docked with the ISS, so there were 10 astronauts on board.

This is a single base image of a 4-second exposure with the Canon RF 28-70mm lens at f/4.5 and Canon R5 at ISO 100. A layered stack of 40 images taken before and after the base image as part of a time-lapse sequence was blended in to add the ISS satellite trail to show its motion. It is streaked due to the 4-second exposures. The gaps between the streaks are from the one second intervals between exposures.

You don't want to be looking down the barrel of his kinetic repulsor, which magnifies his ability to manipulate kinetic energy.

Oh, also, that little trick with the Skull Spider was made by Grayson. Clever indeed!

Here's a short time-lapse of the May 21 passage of the Space Station (the bright streaks) followed right after by the fainter parallel streak of the SpaceX Dragon capsule with the Axiom Ax-2 crew on board as they were chasing the ISS after launch and before docking.

The time-lapse repeats with versions where the trails accumulate. The Moon and Venus are at lower right. The stars also trail over the 7 minutes of total exposure time, in a sequence made of 43 12-second exposures with a full-frame 11mm fish-eye lens. The gaps are from the 1-second interval between exposures.

This is the first time two totally different types of rockets and spacecraft designed to carry humans are on the sister pads at the same time—but it won’t be the last as NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida continues to grow as a multi-user spaceport to launch both government and commercial rockets.
