This Blue-Tailed Bee-Eater in Yala National Park certainly has a stare that could stop you in your tracks! With its striking plumage and intense gaze, this birdâs piercing look reflects the sharp focus and curiosity of nature. While known for its agile hunting skills, this shot captures a more contemplative moment, where the Bee-Eater simply stares straight ahead, giving off a look thatâs both captivating and slightly intimidating.
Taken during my travels in Yala, this photo highlights the beauty and character of the parkâs wildlife. Yala National Park is not only a haven for vibrant species like the Bee-Eater but also a paradise for photographers eager to capture rare and intimate moments in the wild.
Captured along the serene Bentota River, the White-Throated Kingfisher sits with a regal posture, its striking blue and white plumage glistening in the sunlight. Known for its sharp beak and impressive hunting skills, the Kingfisher is a bird that commands attention, whether perched or diving for prey. This shot captures the Kingfisherâs calm yet assertive presence in its natural habitat, perfectly reflecting the peaceful and vibrant ecosystem of Bentota River.
Bentota, with its lush riverside surroundings, is home to many such stunning species, making it an ideal destination for birdwatching and wildlife photography. The White-Throated Kingfisher is just one of the many beautiful birds that can be spotted in this area, adding to Sri Lanka's rich avian diversity.
The Asian Openbill stands tall in Bundala National Park, showcasing its striking, open bill and poised demeanor. Found in wetland habitats, this bird is known for its specialized feeding habits, primarily feeding on mollusks and snails. Captured in a serene moment, the Openbill's elegant posture highlights the peace and beauty of Sri Lankaâs diverse ecosystems.
Taken during my visit to Bundala, this image captures the unique birdlife that thrives in the park's rich wetlands. The Asian Openbill, along with many other species, contributes to the diverse wildlife in this UNESCO-listed biosphere reserve, making Bundala a must-visit for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
LIFER, LIFER !!!!!! New species # 518 for me, always a delight, and a well calculated toilet stop and subsequent 'walk' result in a pair of these exquisite parrots being flushed from a ground feed to various perches as I followed them for 20 minutes. location between Wilcannia and White Cliffs, NSW.
