California Jobs Challenge scholar William Barela, 20, of Sacramento, works to disable the windshield wipers of a Hyundai Santa Fe during an afternoon Electrical II class lab, Nov. 26, 2019, at Cypress College in Cypress, California. For the lab project, scholars were challenged to hide a switch box inside a vehicle to disable one of the auto's electrical functions and stump their classmates. California Jobs Challenge, which is in its inaugural session, is follow-on program for graduates of three National Guard Youth Challenge Programs in the state and helps prepare high school graduates for careers in cybersecurity, construction or automotive technology.
