Annie Sun is a student in the automative tech program at Shoreline Community College. Sun came from China to pursue her dream of being an auto mechanic.

Annie is an amazing and inspiring story! Imagine being from another country and studying and working in the mostly male world of the auto mechanic industry! And she's a mother too!

John Oliver hosted the 3rd annual First Nations Trades Sampler.
Over 40 youth of Aboriginal heritage from Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland spent the day at JO working with industry professionals. Students learned about metal/welding, automotive service, and carpentry and had the opportunity to try out each trade.

Each year, over a dozen district students get a chance to bypass a year of apprenticeship with teacher Kim Orr’s Automotive Service Technicians ACE IT district program. The program, a partnership between the VSB and Vancouver Community College, allows students to get a head start on their auto tech careers, all under the tutelage of Kim Orr, a red seal technician and trained teacher at Britannia Secondary.
