Here are the three stern looking Georgian ladies who were riding in the other Merc car which their crew was repairing using the tools from ours. I laid my camera on a balustrade and pretended to fiddle with it and viewing the photos on it while I sneaked this shot of them. One of them probably guessed what I was up to and eyes me suspiciously. But I was soon done, leaving them alone, and although I did acknowledge them, they gave the faintest of smiles and no words were exchanged between us. (Kazbegi/ Stepantsminda, Georgia, Sept. 2016)

There is something about Old gas stations.
Quite often they are "rePurposed" into Garages,shops,etc.
But there is a certain quality that these structures seem to "own"
that I find interesting.
This one is along the Illinois Prarie Path-
a "Rails-to-Trails" endeavor, that I bike on regularly.

So the Honda Element was overheating, and I was like shit, now what? So I called around, one Dealership said between $1,000 and $3,000 because they could not tell until they got in there, and then the other said with all the parts and labor it would be $1,823 and they would throw in a free oil change, and I was like that sounds like a hell of a deal! So I scratched my head and figured if those boobs working in the garage at Honda can do it in 6 hours, I bet I can do it myself. So over to O'Rileys I went, picked up the part for $74 and off I went, within the first twenty minutes of cussing at Hotel Element struggling to get the fan piece out, I knew why they charge $200 to take this shit apart, but I figured once again if those boobs at the Honda Stealership can do it, so can I, so 2.5 hours, it was out, disassembled and put back together and is up and running again! Once again, I saved $1,749 by doing it myself!

Mental note: Pay attention. Observe. Don’t assume. Now for an admission: I made a misidentification of this sign as seen from the other side (www.flickr.com/photos/joewilcox/50742653092/). I thought an “a” had dropped off from “Eat’s”, on signage pointing to a presumedly closed eatery down an industrial alley/street in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood.
As you can see, looking from the other side, the correct spelling is “Eli’s”, referring to Eli Vigderson’s European Car Repairs. Part of the “l” has fallen away. What I thought was a “t” is instead a full letter and part of another. I got to wondering about the sign, after posting “Got Mini?” (www.flickr.com/photos/joewilcox/51686235994/); the roadster was parked at an auto shop.
While walking an errand, I deliberately passed by the location and realized my mistake.

The popular auto body shop at 146 W. Erie St. moved out of its home since 1934 in November 2016 to make way for The Bentham, a new condominium project with units starting at $1.3 million. The building was constructed in 1924. Erie – LaSalle has two locations: 1005 W. Huron St. and 2440 S. Kedzie Ave. I assume its famous neon sign will be reinstalled on Huron if it hasn’t been already.
