"A Mural to celebrate all the Maries in the World" - 15/08/2022

my name is also Mary.

I bet on the feast of the first name but also, whether you are a believer or not, on the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. There is so much party on the villages in Portugal ...

It's my Name also rl, I'm lucky to have a compound name, and it always revolves around God iihihihihi

*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_

in this composition, we see:

The Sacred Heart of Paris, the church

the Sacred Heart of Jesus,

the Sacred Heart of Mary,

2 crucifixes,

The Virgin Mary,

the letter M of Mary

a poppy that blends into the landscape

a dragonfly I don't know where he went haha

and Me, Maria, lotus flower, butterflies

*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_

I wanted through this fresco, to celebrate the feast of Mary, it's also a feast day in the Catholic religion,

I Respect all Religions and Beliefs.

Moreover, whether one is a believer in God or not, all first names have a feast day.

You know what ? ...I believe that there is only one God on Earth, and through all these beliefs and religions of the World, he finds a way to touch us...

I may as well pray, or give thanks to God in a church, mosque, orthodox church, or temple.

=> He is a Unique and Universal God for All <=

There are things in every Religion, which I do not approve of, which are out of our Time... but I ignore all that

because the important...

<= It's my Meeting with God =>

So, Humans, let's celebrate the Marys of the World, and/or the feast dedicated to the Virgin Mary, - the Assumption.

✨❤✨❤✨❤✨❤✨❤✨❤✨❤✨❤✨

A colourful sunset with a lot of haze on the air, over the Greek island of Anafi. One can view the Monastery of "Zoodochos Pigi" near the center and the "Chora", the only town of the island, close to the top left corner of the frame.

Another one of my damselfly friends doing his best to strike an interesting pose for me!

I'll suggest that you try viewing him large on black! :)

So bird watching takes me to a tranquil place. I planted Bee Balm just for moments like this. I think I was just lucky while I was hanging out the window.

A shot of the Milky Way, taken on the island of Anafi, Greece. The photo was taken from the Monastery of "Kalamiotissa", which sits on the second largest rock of the Mediterranean. The two small islands seen and covered with haze are "Pachia" and "Makra". I was looky enough to capture a "Perseid" in this one, even if the meteor shower phenomenon was not at its peak yet. ... oak bay bc; built circa 1912 but probably completed a few years earlier ... this was the family home for 16 years (we were living here when this pic was taken) and yes the gardens, the messy lawn, and paint colours are our doing

It's fairly rare to see them lying this closely, but there they were that particular morning... totally not posed. L

An old tyre, used to serve as a fender, next to some moldy rocks. Evia, Greece, August '15

..... I wondered where home was, once upon a time, when it was flourishing and thriving. Even at this end stage, life abounds on these old gnarled trees, washed up on the beach, where they become homes for all kinds of lifeforms ..... lichens, fungi, insects, myxomycetes. You could spend ages looking at them. I frequently do.

.... a sideways look at the seedcases of the Rosebay Willowherb (Chamerion angustifolium). The red fleshy pods will split and reveal the feathery pappi and seeds which will eventually be carried away by the wind.

These snakes are said to apear on the island of Kefalonia only once per year around the celebration of theotokos (mother of Christ) on august 15. They are considered holy and harmless. I can only confirm that they indeed do not bite.

yeh, more waterdrops...

Colourful sunset - a shot taken near the area of Kalamos, Evia. Greece, August'15

Staring the milky way from the Monastery of Kalamiotissa, on Anafi island, Greece. August'15

This is the same huge chunk of driftwood as in the previous shot. It was lying at the edge of a large expanse of saltmarsh at the coast. The Yellowrattle (Rhinanthus minor), was growing beside it .... I bent it across the wood to take the shots. In this one, I liked the textures of the bleached wood and the lovely patches of lichens which reflected the colours in the seedheads. There are several species of crustose lichens in this image.

Tōdai-ji, Todaiji temple, "Eastern Great Temple", is a Buddhist temple complex that was once one of the powerful Seven Great Temples, located in the city of Nara, Japan. Though it was originally founded in the year 738 CE, Tōdai-ji was not opened until the year 752 CE. The construction of the temple was an attempt to imitate Chinese temples from the much-admired Tang dynasty. The temple has undergone several reconstructions since then, with the most significant reconstruction (that of the Great Buddha Hall) taking place in 1709. Its Great Buddha Hall ( Daibutsuden) houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese as Daibutsu ). The temple also serves as the Japanese headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism. The temple is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara", together with seven other sites including temples, shrines and places in the city of Nara.

I saw this cicada molting last night in my backyard. I saw his wings slowly unfolding - it was like watching one of those PBS nature programs!

The procession takes place on the day of the assumption of Mary, August 15. There are several elements to this celebration, which has been observed since the fourteenth century. I will be writing about it at blog.rightreading.com, and will update this link when done.

I had a great time mooching around the rock pools, last Monday. The light was crystal clear, and the colours of the wet sandstone were beautiful.

We have a lilac bush that blooms twice a year, once in the spring and again at this time of the year. While we've seen hummingbirds around it before, this is the first time we've had the pleasure of seeing a hummingbird moth on it. They're so cool!

August 15, India Celebrating her Independence day.

Home to the Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four major religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated there, while Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and shaped the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by the British East India Company from the early eighteenth century and colonised by the United Kingdom from the mid-nineteenth century, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by widespread nonviolent resistance.

India is a republic consisting of 28 (now 31) states and seven union territories with a parliamentary system of democracy. It has the world's twelfth largest economy at market exchange rates and the fourth largest in purchasing power.
