Kwanon is transferring reel-to-reel-audio tapes to CD today with his "1950s iPod," as he joking calls the heavy deck. What a great technology. After setting the record volume on the computer and determining the recording speed was 3¾, he opened the bale and stopped it, only to have the tape break and the reel spin out of control. Kwanon untangled the tape, rolled it back onto the supply reel, and spliced the tape back together where it snapped. He rethreaded the leader on the takeup reel and finally got it playing adequately. The fun isn't done, however, until he edits the tracks which may be stereo, linear, or playing in reverse.
