Last year it was still the normal state between performances. Unfortunately, it now has a completely different symbolic power :-(

Yet more Uber loveliness today, in the form of this sexy top and skirt combination from Rebel Gal, available in a whole variety of gorgeous colours. Makes me want to sing – just a shame my audience is so small!

A Ghostly Audience.

Cromer pier is a grade II listed structure and was built in 1902 It has a working theatre (The Pavilion Theatre) at it's end and is well known for it's end of pier show.

This is night-time shot looking down the pier towards the theatre. The 2 second exposure gives the audience members a slightly ghostly look as they head towards the theatre and their seats.

Masada was a combined fortress and royal palace, and ruins are scattered all over the place. Above the chamber where Herod was supposed to receive audience seekers. On the wall to the back you see that the walls were plastered and made to look impressive as if they were made of giant blocks. This seems to have been the case all over the place inside and outside alike.

"Masada (מצדה metsada "fortress"[1]) is an ancient fortification in the Southern District of Israel situated on top of an isolated rock plateau, akin to a mesa. It is located on the eastern edge of the Judaean Desert, overlooking the Dead Sea 20 km (12 mi) east of Arad.

Herod the Great built palaces for himself on the mountain and fortified Masada between 37 and 31 BCE. According to Josephus, the siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire at the end of the First Jewish–Roman War ended in the mass suicide of 960 people, the Sicarii rebels and their families hiding there.

Masada is one of Israel's most popular tourist attractions"(Wikipedia)

Today he's wearing clothes appropriate for jazz! Flames shoot out the top of the instrument as he plays (you can only see a glimpse in this image) but I was more interested in catching his audience.

Just a techo note. In our endless hunt for methods of making Sl pics pop, we tried the following...

Two versions of the pic. The second has HDR applied to it, preset surrealistic, copied onto the first pic as a second layer. Blending mode soft light, Opacity reduced to 70%. NB you must apply the HDR before copying and pasting. Attempting t create the second layer and then apply HDR will mean that the picture will automatically flatten itself.

To me this adds the depth which is usually absent from SL pics. What do you think?

During the sunset hour, an audience of rocks peacefully rests while watching the clouds dance across the sky. An unchoreographed display, it is none the less exhilarating. With each passing moment the dance of light takes a different form.

In this brief moment, the light arches from island to island, covering most of the sky. Albeit an enthralling period, the audience remains steadfast, in its stoic repose.

The stage is empty, the seats are full of ghosts — and she stands alone, actor and witness at once.

Would Hamlet have felt the delicious fascination of suicide if he hadn’t had an audience, and lines to speak?

Audience interaction is one way of making live performances more interesting, like the Amanda Lee Swingtet performing the works of jazz singer Nat King Cole here. After all, nothing is better than two way communication to keep audiences involved.

An audience of one can be a beautiful thing.

A modern dilemma: read the text or enjoy the free, live music? Or perhaps this young man in Barcelona was doing both.

I liked these guys. I'd like to meet them again, but I'm afraid they may not be there anymore. Anyway, it was a pleasure...

The courtyard at the Gustor festival at the Spituk Gompa monastery in Leh, Ladakh was jam packed with local people and at the peak of the festivities it would have been hard to shoe-horn in even one more person. The audience had spilled over to the roof-top overlooking the courtyard, and to the windows above the courtyard, where these two monks had found a prime place to watch the festivities.

"The Audience" is a sculpture by renowned Canadian artist Michael Snow. Snow created sculptures of spectators to set atop the entrances of the Roger Centre, a stadium for sports and entertainment in downtown Toronto. This grouping of spectators at one of the entrances shows different kinds of fans at a ball game -- from the grumpy bully to the laughing child.
