At yet another birthday party with the kids this past weekend, at Quassy amusement park located on Lake Quassapaug. The kiddie park area, where I inevitably spend most of my time, is separated from the water by only a fence. So of course, with the sun setting, my attention is being torn by this lovely sunset glittering on the water...and like usual, I feel like I'm the only one noticing the beauty.
I took some shots, but this time for kicks, I tried a few shots in sunset mode, which is something I very rarely use because I don't like the result. It seems to take away the colors and adds an almost sepia tone...maybe because it's an older camera, I don't know. But I actually like the result here, giving everything an amber glow...reminding me of tiger-eye contrasting with the dark areas.

Violet-capped Woodnymph - Male - these hummingbirds inhabit a wide range of habitats from untouched forests, to scrub, to suburban and city gardens. They gather nectar from both native and non-native flowers and also hunt for insects. During certain parts of the year, Violet-capped Woodnymphs migrate short distances. Males have a bluish violet cap and sparkle with dark green above and gold-green below. Females are dark greenish above and off-white below. During the breeding season, these woodnymphs adorn the outside of their nests with ferns and lichen. This photo was taken at Trilha Dos Tucanos.

I was walking in the Botanic Garden when I heard a very loud scream, truly scandalous, and I observed this Fluvicola Nengeta, on a plate with instructions not to feed the animals of the lake. It was a fun scene, because the bird was shaking its wings frantically as if drawing attention to himself. Later I found out it was a mating ritual. Unfortunately for him, at that moment, only I was nearby...
I absolutely love to photograph the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts building in Kansas City, Missouri. On this rainy stormy evening, I was scoping out some new compositions and spotted this view. The reflection was wonderful but the way the tree limb curves back into the center of the frame was just icing on the cake for me.

The Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to preserving Canada's baseball heritage which dates back to June 4, 1838, when a game which very closely resembled today's game of baseball was played in Beachville, Ontario.
The Hall gained some major attention when Pete Rose became eligible for election for earning his 4,000th MLB hit while playing with the Montreal Expos in 1984, however Rose has yet to be elected to the Hall.
The center of your attention is whatever you choose.
Today, Mothers are front and center. Being a Mom carries a lot of weight. It is a blessing, but can feel like a burden at times. Both burdens and blessing are heavy. A blessing carries the weight of resposibility.
I would encourage every woman to be a blessing to others by stepping up to be a mother figure to whoever needs one.
A good woman is a blessing.
A good man is a blessing.
A good daughter is a blessing.
A good son is a blessing.
A good friend is a blessing.
Be blessings to one another not burdens.
