Watch and listen: Blondie - Atomic (Official Music Video)

Back out practising my slow shutter skillz! Taken at Elvington Airfield near York. I usually use 1/40th for decent panning results, but tried it at 1/30th with a long focal length for a more extreme blurred background. This was the best of the bunch from about 50 shots.

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Genbaku Dome) was the only structure left standing in the area where the first atomic bomb exploded on 6 August 1945. Through the efforts of many people, including those of the city of Hiroshima, it has been preserved in the same state as immediately after the bombing. Not only is it a stark and powerful symbol of the most destructive force ever created by humankind; it also expresses the hope for world peace and the ultimate elimination of all nuclear weapons.

seen in Astoria Oregon, I haven't TripAvisored them yet to find out how much fun this place actually is :)

It is what you think it is, just let your imagination fly. An atomic bomb, a jelly fish?: it's just light and dark sands pushed about by wave and tide on Fascadale beach, and some frothy spume.

Atomic research plays a big role in the history of eastern Idaho. I recently learned that the first city in the world powered by atomic energy was Arco Idaho. Scientists first made usable power from a nuclear reactor in 1951 at the National Reactor Testing Station. The Army, Navy, and...

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial, also known as the Genbaku Dome, Atomic Bomb Dome or A-Bomb Dome, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The ruin serves as a memorial to the people who were killed in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945. Over 70,000 people were killed instantly, and another 70,000 suffered fatal injuries from the radiation.

At 8:15 a.m. on 6 August 1945, the first atomic bomb to be used in war was dropped by the United States Army Air Forces from the Enola Gay, a B-29 bomber. The force of the atomic bomb effectively obliterated the city of Hiroshima, Japan.

The building was the only structure left standing near the bomb’s hypocenter.

The Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome) in Peace Memorial Park at Hiroshima, Japan, is the former Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall (1915) destroyed during the August 1945 bombing.
