I am removing a Plenum Panel from over the center isleway in car 802A1 of the Electroliner. These panel assemblies will have speaker holes welded shut with new material, insulation replaced, and be primed and repainted. This needs to be done down the entire length of the train. Please visit www3.irm.org/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&c... to donate in units of $25.00 and give generously to the Campaign for the Electroliner 2016. Our Campaign Facebook Page is at www.facebook.com/Electroliner?ref=stream and the Illinois Railway Musem is at www.irm.org. Thank you.

Awesome! Except for one thing. Note the red knobbed slot-machine style handle on the table. I broke it off.
The handle is an assembly that's spring-loaded, allowing you to pull it away from the machine to disengage it, spin it to position it where you want, and release it to reengage with the spindle-lowering mechanism. It wouldn't free spin. The metal bound almost immediately, and even removing the loose set screws entirely, it was nothing-doing. Over the course of about 20 minutes, I attempted to wrestle it back and forth, tapped it with mallets, sprayed in WD-40, attempted to prise it free with various wedge-like implements, and took it apart, breaking the internal pin mechanism in the process. Following all that, while trying to wrestle the knob down, to attempt to spin it free once more, it just clean broke away.
Now I need to think really hard about how to get the rest of it free, so I can send the handle in for replacement.
UPDATE: don't send suggestions - I freed it in awesome fashion, as will be shown in a new set.
