**** I am pretty sure this is a Male Reed Bunting . They are about the same size as a sparrow and quite attractive birds. This was taken On Midsummers day 2018 in the trees that lead to the cliffs at RSPB Bempton in East Yorkshire

Sweater&Shorts @Rebel Hope at Fameshed

I am not generally that successful at bird photography even when I have consciously gone out to see birds. This shot of the chaffinch was pure luck. Mary and I were on a walk recently I had taken a shot or two of some wild flowers . I spotted the bird and took a couple of shots without changing settings not really expecting anything reasonable. In fact I am quite pleased with this one I know it could be sharper but for a grab shot its not too bad . It is very heavily cropped

For those who are interested, an extract from this afternoon's Journal entry.

"At 5 o'clock we were back on the road to Sousousvlei for the afternoon drive, along the way we saw Oryx and Ostriches. We stopped at dune number 45, I gave Ruby my Panasonic camera and she went off to take photos of wild flowers. I took close up shots of the sand dune and its environment.

Next we drove to dune number 47; this was a stunning landscape, especially in the afternoon light. We watched the sun set at dune 47, Ruby took photos of the sunset with one of my cameras, while I used another. Neither of us was interested in sharing drinks and nibbles, we were civil but an impossible gulf had opened between us.

I asked about taking a hot air balloon or a sightseeing flight the next morning. Ruby said I'd never get into the balloon basket and besides the next morning would be windy and unsuitable for ballooning. She was no longer interested in anything I wanted if I wasn’t interested in what she wanted me to do. She had also lost sight of the fact I was the client and she the guide. Her message was loud and clear.

Back at the camp we had Orix kebabs for dinner, tough as old leather and not at all tasty."

I have been asked to "keep the blue alive" ...I know that was a joke...but...here ..is.....my......

Ask restaurant was formerly a bank and the curved wall of the building is adorned with some of the 32 caryatids, or armless ladies, which continue along the adjoining terrace of shops. They date from about 1840 and are loosely based on similar columns at the Acropolis in Athens. We are so used to them but they are really quite a sight to behold and something that shouldn’t be missed if visiting Cheltenham.

Do you empathise with the fish or the bird, I wonder? Several people have expressed sympathy for the fish in previous photos 'Do they ever get away?' I have been asked. Almost never.

The Great Crested Grebes work hard for their catch - they dive below the surface for about 30 seconds, cover a surprising distance under the water, and only bring up a fish every 10 - 20 dives. This one managed to catch two fish in the space of about half an hour. Nature as it is lived in the wild.

A heavy early morning mist was around and this building just stood there, shining in the middle of nowhere.

I'm not sure if I would stop to ask for directions on a cold, dark night.

This was taken juat after 7am.

So Bambi just asked me if I wanted to do a cozy photo with the dogs. Of course! Why not! Hell yes! This was the result after that...

Hector just has to be a trouble maker, first, he did not let me cuddle him properly, second, he is stealing MY pizza! At least Daisy always seems the most responsible one, look at her eyeing him completely unimpressed and with disapproval!

I will end this with a funny thing I read... "If you drink a bottle of wine before you walk your dog. It kind of feels like you're solving a mystery together." In this case, that mystery is in bed. :p

Shot this afternoon. It was the background who caught my attention when shooting this.

Kabardino-Balkaria, Elbrus National Park, Adyr-Su River Gorge.

The most beautiful part of the gorge is at the end, where there are snow-capped mountain peaks and glaciers.

The people of the Caucasus call the mountain Ullu-Tau: “Mother Mountain” or “God’s Mountain”. They believe that if you come to the foot of Ullu-Tau in the Glade of Desires and ask the mountain for the fulfillment of your deepest desire, then it will certainly come true.

My son and I are quite the team. For those of you who know Micah from my early Flickr days, he's now 14. A beautiful and growing teenager who has had challenges all his life with being diagnosed with severe autism and intellectual disability from a young age. Despite being non-verbal, he's always had a joyful spirit and loves with his whole heart. A few months ago my heart almost stopped as he begun having seizures. The first was the worst but he's continued to have many of what they call focal seizures since. He's started medication but they are not under control. I'm left trying to find help from hard to contact specialists and it makes me feel like I'm drowning some days because I don't know what else to do to help him. It seems so unfair. I want to rage but I feel sad. So asking for prayers, for him, for me, for a better balance of my spirit xx
