Thank you for your comments!

As the weather is still wet, dull, grey and dreary still, here is a little sight of summer. There lovely tiny butterflies are quite common up in Scotland if you know where to look - patches of blaeberries

We awoke to a little snow last Friday. I made a quick visit to some of the local spots before work and I was rewarded with a few nice images. I arrived at the Sheebeen at 8.02am and the Guinness truck was just pulling out after another delivery of the creamy stuff :-) I didn't get time to compose this as I literrally hopped out of the car and started snapping. Needless to say all thats left are the photos as the heavy rain over he weekend washed the little snow away.

Cache la Poudre River

The river's name means "Hiding Place of Powder." According to legend, French fur trappers in the 1820's were caught by a tremendous snowstorm. To lighten their load, they buried large amounts of gunpowder (poudre) in a hiding place (cache) near the mouth of the river along the banks of the river. The river is affectionately known as "the Poudre" by local residents and long-time visitors to the area.

As a German, I'm not used to such memorials for the victorious soldiers of wars past. Obviously, the Brits have another history.

I loved to walk on along the boardwalk on St Marks basin to watch the light change in the dawn of morning. It was so calm and romantic. The gondolas were always bobbing in the water, faithfully waiting for the day to break and for people to hop on board.

Tune

Holdin' me back

Gravity's holdin' me back

I want you to hold out the palm of your hand

Why don't we leave it at that?

Nothin' to say

When everything gets in the way

Seems you cannot be replaced

And I'm the one who will stay, oh

In this world, it's just us

You know it's not the same as it was

In this world, it's just us

You know it's not the same as it was

As it was, as it was

You know it's not the same

Swan River daisy / Australisches Gänseblümchen (Brachyscome iberidifolia) in a flower pot on our terrace - Frankfurt-Nordend

As far as I'm aware, not a species that breeds on the local moors. but nevertheless a fairly regular sight on spring and late summer passage. This handsome male spent a few days on the edge of the moors below Derwent Edge at the start of May.

An einem einzigen Abend hatten wir klare Sicht. Auf Sommarøy begann mein erstes Polarlicht - Aurora Boealis. Keine Bange, später am Abend wurde es noch viel viel besser.

We had a clear view in one evening. My first Northern Lights - Aurora Boealis - started on Sommarøy. Don't worry, it got a lot better later in the evening.

Tromsø is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Tromsø.

Tromsø lies in Northern Norway. The 2,521-square-kilometre (973 sq mi) municipality is the 18th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Tromsø is the 9th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 71,590 (2014). The municipality's population density is 30.6 inhabitants per square kilometre (79/sq mi) and its population has increased by 15.9% over the last decade.[6][7] It is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and the third largest north of the Arctic Circle anywhere in the world (following Murmansk and Norilsk). Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the island of Tromsøya, 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. In 2017, the city of Tromsø had a population of about 65,000 people spread out over Tromsøya and parts of Kvaløya and the mainland. Tromsøya is connected to the mainland by the Tromsø Bridge and the Tromsøysund Tunnel, and to the island of Kvaløya by the Sandnessund Bridge.

The municipality is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. Tromsø is even milder than places much farther south of it elsewhere in the world, such as on the Hudson Bay and in Far East Russia, with the warm-water current allowing for both relatively mild winters and tree growth in spite of its very high latitude.

The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The city is a cultural centre for its region, with several festivals taking place in the summer. Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge of the electronica duo Röyksopp and Lene Marlin grew up and started their careers in Tromsø. Noted electronic musician Geir Jenssen also hails from Tromsø.

As I said before no more belly flapping for me,

with the D750 having the flip screen all I do is lay the camera down and focus.

I rarely take photos of our Crocuses, we have them in different areas.

Unexpected shot as i drove through town and saw the light changing. A quick stop and then the sky lit up running around trying to find a good composition and then it was gone.

Could humans ever learn to live next to each other in full harmony, accepting and respecting each others shapes and limits ? As trees do.

As we descended in Los Angeles, we were treated with a beautiful sunset.

I decided to print and frame a few of my black and white shots and hang them in the hall of where we're currently living, and the tenant upstairs was fine with the idea. Sherrianne had asked about seeing the finished product when all were hung, so, this is it, my mini art exhibit, 3 on one wall, and 1 on the opposite wall :)

As pointed out by my Flickr friend Leon, the droplets below the leaf are held in a spiders web. It is a stunning miracle of nature.

As they run, their hooves barely touch the ground. Their movements are synchronized, as if they are dancing to an invisible melody, embodying the harmony of nature. The wildflowers they pass by paint the landscape and create a delicate contrast against the lush green grass.

These beautiful Arabians are bred by a friend who had me over for a day to photograph them in the gorgeous late summer pasture. I came away with amazing images and he got photos for his breeding portfolio.

Anochecer en As Tablillas

Day 1 of 20 of albums that influenced my musical tastes. I'll start with Standing on a Beach. I remember listening this CD everyday in my high school years, in my house or in my friend's room, feeding our minds with these dark sounds and some bright musical notes, creating our perfect soundtrack for the teenager.

The album was titled Staring at the Sea in CD format in some countries is the first greatest hits album by the English band the Cure, released in the United States on 15 May 1986 by Elektra Records and in the United Kingdom on 19 May 1986 by Fiction Records, marking a decade since the band's founding in 1976. This shot was taken with my macro contraption (50mm f/1.4 lens, 47 mm extender tube on one side and a 250D macro lens on the other). That means the lens was almost touching the butterfly. I have no idea how they let me get that close, but these butterflies did not seem to be frightened.
