Donner Pass is no stranger to articulated steam, with SP's AC class being one of the main choices of power on the mountain. After the end of steam, it would be awhile before another articulated steam locomotive would run over Donner. In 1981, UP 3985 double headed with 844 (at the time still numbered 8444) to go to Railfair 1981. Since then, steam had been few and far between, and 844 would be the only one to run over Donner.

For years the UP Steam Program kept trying to get a 4014 run in Northern California, but every time it would fail. After a few attempts, in 2024 articulated steam made a return to Donner when 4014 ran over the Sierras on both WP and SP. With plenty of sharp curves it made it very easy to see the articulation, even when looking at the locomotive head on.

Seen here in this image, 4014 is seen rolling around the horseshoe deep in the Coldstream Canyon. Shortly before taking this photo the train had made an emergency stop due to burning brakes on one of the coaches.

Some more of those Conzelman curves.

The articulation of an Egret's neck whilst in-flight is really a sight to be seen. I photographed this one in the rain whilst taking shelter aside a tree at a local wetland reserve in Luxembourg.

The loons have been and gone this weekend—

Mergansers, Canada Geese—shedding autumn;

Some asking me to join them—

but this is not my time.

I gaze over the steely, fall blue of Lake Huron

and see

Stonehenge, Atlantis pathways

and turn back to Spindrift, drizzled.

I hear you... all of you...

laughter, shrieks, secret murmurs, intense opinions

bracketed by louder articulations of rowdy disagreement,

and loudest is the brooding silence, split crossways by our looniness—

and love.

And I see you... all of you...

who grace this sanctuary—

you swim, read, eat, play, chatter, cry, sleep—

and love—

your lingering forms move around and about

at will

and come

to the always-smoldering

firepit of stories and songs

punctuated with cloudy dots of marshmallows

Unlike LoSS, it has decent articulation in the legs. It's also stable enough to hold itself up on four legs, allowing use of the front legs for lunging poses.

There's a bit of an unintentional function in the abdomen, as the yellow shells can be hinged open. This can be used to store eggs in the form of Zamor spheres, masks, or full Skull Spiders.

*Edit* Just realized that I forgot to place a shell on the open ball visible on the abdomen. It usually doesn't look quite so gappy.

Following up on my tribute to Carrie Fisher's (1956-2016) character princess Leia, I have built R2-D2 and gave Leia neck and waist articulation, and swapped her weapon for her personal blaster. Here she is giving R2-D2 the stolen plans to the Death Star from the beginning scene of Star Wars : A New Hope.

More pictures to follow of both Leia and R2-D2. His 3rd leg retracts inside of him, head rotates and side legs pivot. :)

Sorry for the somewhat poor photo quality, my iPhone doesn't handle low light well. Orange light glow is from my salt block lamp.

Articulated axle for the Willys Jeep. This looks a bit askew because in this first trial I've fixed the front bumper on the wheel holder. Later I've managed to fix it below the cooler grille, thanks to the new 1x2 plates with open studs.

Toy Project Day 1709

While not nearly as glamorous as 4014, Steamtown did recently complete a cosmetic restoration of their own Union Pacific "Big Boy" #4012. It was a nice touch displaying it on the curved track at the entrance to the museum, highlighting the articulation of the front engine.

Mini mech wars?

Class: Scout/messenger

Height: 16 ft

Weight: 300 kg

Top speed: 75 km/h

Preferred weapon: Spear

Battery life: 200 hrs

- Articulation of legs in 4 points;

- The upper part can rotate 140 degrees;

- The turret under the cabin, rocket launchers and main guns can also be rotated;

- Detailed cabin, transport compartment with seats for stormtroopers and the gunner place;

- 2 hatches of the transport compartment and the hatch above the spot of the gunner can be opened.

This mech has 15 points of articulation, Which makes it very moveable.

BrickArms used:

1 U-clip

1 Gunmetal Podgun(I actually wanted to give him an M1919 or an Advanced sterlinger, But this will have to make do.)

and a modded BrickArms RPG.

I hope you like it!

Based of Stacker's original scout mech.

I'm still strugling with uploading photo's on my PC...

Once I got it all back under controll, I'll start uploading my customized figures again.

last week I had an 8 minute interview for something which had up until now only been in my dreams.... something I worked intensely for over a year, prepared for over a month, lost sleep for over weeks, and travelled alongside world travel chaos. The skies were bright , the air clear and the kinship bright.... I await the result with trepidation!

Do you see that Curvy articulation? its on the way!!!!!!!

While their lack of articulation is a bummer, I'm enjoying these old NECA Harry Potter figures. I hope to score a Hermione soon.

Also, I sometimes feel like the world's last Potter fan; I may never read the novels again because I have already done so several times, but I will always love them... and yet it seems like no one talks about the series these days, and most young people I know are not interested in reading the novels at all.

Articulation....

N&W Class A No. 1218 eases around the wye at Bulls Gap, Tenn. in 1989. It wasn't as difficult as one might think. Southern 2-8-8-2s (with a longer rigid wheelbase) turned here every day for years. Ten-coupled 2-10-2s wyed at the "Gap" as well.

Union Pacific 4014 shows how how the world's largest operating steam locomotive can negotiate curves that smaller engines can't.

This image of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's recently-restored Locomotive #1309 rounding the curve near Milepost 176.1, gives just a glimpse of how a big, 2-6-6-2, compound, articulated, mallet gets around sharp curves. If you look up front at the pilot, you can see that the front engine is indeed following the curve, whilst the boiler, which runs the length of both engines and is mounted only on the rear engine, has swung slightly to the engineer's side. The 1309 is pictured here with a string of coal hoppers at a location near Mt. Savage, MD, called "Tie Pile", and is performing for a November, 2022 photo shoot organized by Trains Magazine.

Notes:

- No rotation at the knee

- Can't really touch face

- I did my best to put her hands on her hips. I was pretty delicate though.

- Most joints are pretty sturdy -- I worry about bending at the elbow joint. My wrist rotation is really stiff.

On Wednesday 29th December 2021, Go-Coach sourced a Mercedes-Benz Citaro (articulated) BX02 YYZ (Ex-MAL 15) from the Bromley Bus Preservation Group for use by KCC to evaluate the length of an articulated vehicle with the infrastructure over the Fastrack network. Starting at Home Gardens it worked via route A (including Amazon LCY3) to Greenhithe Station then via the B route to Gravesend (minus Springhead Park). The return was via route B (including Springhead Park) all the way to Dartford.

Its pictured here on the Kent Fastway at The Bridge having just started out on route A.

Whelp, this was a long time coming. Back when I snipped my old Manbat's wings in two, and tried to add articulation to them, I knew I was gonna remake them. Well, I realized I wasn't happy with the entire figure anymore, so I thought It was time for a complete overhaul. I took my old figures, and removed some things, and then added new additions.

First off, here is what Manbat last looked like before I revamped him: www.flickr.com/photos/99717434@N04/30283548781/in/photoli...

I cut off the old "bubble pecks" chest, and scrapped the wings entirely. I also ripped off the sculpted nose and brow of the old one.

As for the new additions, I ended up re-sculpting the entire face. This is what it looked like before paint: www.instagram.com/p/BUZtRODlsbd/?taken-by=themoosefigs

I then redid the entire chest sculpt, as well as adding sculpt to the back. I was assisted in the planning for this new chest sculpt by Billy. I tried to make it look like boney ribs under the skin.

I also added some 3D claws to the feet. Besides that, the legs only changed with paint.

The wings are entirely new for this version. They are made from an armature of toothpicks, glue, and green stuff. The fabric on the wings is from a Lego pirate ship sail. Here is a picture of the wings when they were a basic skeleton: www.instagram.com/p/BUcjIAnFSsb/?taken-by=themoosefigs

I am quite fond of the claws on the wings. they were actually a last minute addition. They are also made from toothpicks.

After the wings were made, and the sculpting was done, it was time for paint. I decided to change this Version 2 up even more from the first one, and went with a overall grey skin tone, much like how Manbat appears in "The Batman" animated series.

I repainted the entire figure light grey, and gave the torso and head a dark grey wash. I then painted the membrane of the wings a brownish red color, which was also not originally planned. The membrane and the inside of the ears were originally going to both be dark grey. I also painted the claws on the toes and wings dark tan, and the pants a charcoal grey.

I am very fond of how this guy came out, so please leave a comment, and tell me what you think. Do you like this one more than version 1? Let me know.

Lastly, thanks to Jared for editing the pic.
