Snoopy imagines himself to speak, but never actually does, other than nonverbal sounds and occasionally uttering "Woof". His very articulate thoughts are shown in thought balloons. The other characters in the comic can apparently read his mind, as they always react to what Snoopy thinks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And duckling. One of three. Aix sponsa. Resoft County Park, Alvin, Texas. Resoft also has some nesting Black-crowned Night Herons, which are very aggressive with the Wood Duck ducklings, gobbling up about half of them to feed their own chicks. It's nature, right? Phew! (My authority, BTW, is Denise, the marvelously articulate park ranger in charge of Resoft.)

Words
The world does not need words. It articulates itself
in sunlight, leaves, and shadows. The stones on the path
are no less real for lying uncatalogued and uncounted.
The fluent leaves speak only the dialect of pure being.
The kiss is still fully itself though no words were spoken.
And one word transforms it into something less or other--
illicit, chaste, perfunctory, conjugal, covert.
Even calling it a kiss betrays the fluster of hands
glancing the skin or gripping a shoulder, the slow
arching of neck or knee, the silent touching of tongues.
Yet the stones remain less real to those who cannot
name them, or read the mute syllables graven in silica.
To see a red stone is less than seeing it as jasper--
metamorphic quartz, cousin to the flint the Kiowa
carved as arrowheads. To name is to know and remember.
The sunlight needs no praise piercing the rainclouds,
painting the rocks and leaves with light, then dissolving
each lucent droplet back into the clouds that engendered it.
The daylight needs no praise, and so we praise it always--
greater than ourselves and all the airy words we summon.

The Community Hall was built as the United Free Church to the design of JD Cairns in 1908 . It was built on the site of a previous, smaller United Free church, following a union with Crail West Church (now Holy Trinity Catholic Church). It is a typical Free Presbyterian Church building dating from the Edwardian period. Like many churches of this period, it used a style derived from Scottish precedents but also fitted in with the preference for late Gothic, often labelled Perpendicular, across Britain generally.
The church had a typical Presbyterian plan. The emphasis on preaching produced a wide and relatively short central main vessel to the church. There are shallow transepts to either side to create more space to either side of the pulpit.
There is a short chancel which is now used as a stage and would have been the sanctuary containing the communion table and chairs for elders. To the east is a church hall which is integrated into the design of the remainder of the building. The internal design of the space that was originally the church is particularly attractive. A quality is given to the space by its expressive roof form with the underside of the main trusses forming curves articulating the bays of the church. This arrangement is linked with the pairs of arches into the transepts. At the western end of the church is the original gallery.
It is listed Category B. Externally the main feature is the octagonal tower which forms a minor landmark in the northern part of Crail on the A917 St Andrews Road.

From the bright flowers of summer to one of the harshest, coldest mornings of last winter: a morning on which I took a friend who was interested in seeing a Snowy Owl for a sunrise back-roading experience. He was shocked at the hour we were scheduled to leave his house and then really shocked when he saw the temperature.
It ended up that some sort of weather event was underway, and the temperature eventually dropped to -30. My friend dryly noted that he had underestimated my ‘commitment’ to birding.
I have to admit it was brutally cold. But with the ice fog and dawn light brightening the farmland it seemed exceptionally beautiful to me. I only wish I were better able to process my options for environmental/landscape photography.
My professional life involves creating and articulating options in complex contractual negotiations, and a commonly expressed fear of the folks I work with is that they have left an option unexplored. I feel that way when a situation like this cold, cold morning comes along, and the sun is rising…
This is the rolling, flat, open farmland southwest of Ottawa that year after year provides territory for Snowy Owls.
We found three Snowies, and even got out of the car to watch them through binoculars. But when I got out of the car to try some photographs of the weather event, my friend stayed put.
Here's another in my "how low can you go" series. I done gone as low as I can go - all the way, on my stretched out face-down torso. (Thank you, James - if you can do it so can I 😉) I have several successes sitting with camera on the ground, and I'm sitting using the articulating LCD to frame. This time, I tried looking through the viewfinder - definitely more accurate. I'm finding it rather addicting, but I can't necessarily find a spot that allows me an open view and a flatter area to spread out. Anyway, I really liked the two soft Wood Ducks in the bg, male and female, in addition to the star in the foreground.

I had a good run of luck this night with the color in the sky. I posted one image from the set and people seemed to really like it, so I thought I would finish up this image. This one was taken a little earlier in the evening and the perspective in much lower, making the rocks in the foreground look like mountains too. Thank you new Manfrotto which has a feature that lets you place the camera body under the apex of the tripod, so it hangs. In this shot the hot shoe was actually sitting in the water, that's how low it was.
The tradeoff here is that the reflection of the actual mountain is gone, but you get some sky reflection. The sky color was not quite as pronounced because it was earlier in the night. Let this also be the 2,000th call to Canon to add a flip out screen to the 6D Mark II because I too was laying in the water to see the darn screen!! Please Canon- articulating screen. Please.

Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom of pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.~Frederick Buechner

Misty look, kinda dazzled and dreamlike, over the leaves sprouting from the intangible twig of a certain articulate squareness, eyes tense with suspicion although not quite lacking some self-assured impertinence. a slash of enlightened straightforwardness like a poisoned arrow dashing towards the tightlipped explosion of the next instant.

If you were a sailboat I would sail you to the shore.
If you were a river I would swim you,
If you were a house I would live in you all my days.
If you were a preacher I’d begin to change my ways.

When I took up photography in 2015, I had imagined I would focus on the beauty of life or, at least, on finding ways to express visually life's rich tapestry. But the political landscape keeps changing and I find myself engaged in expressing my views when I think things get dangerous. I do not regret being politically articulate. We, as photographers, should contribute visually to the public debate about our future. Getting sharp is part of our job description. Art is, and always has been, political.
This is one of several cute little mushrooms popping up in my woods these days. They like the damp weather we have been having. I like my 60D with the articulating screen because I no longer have to lie on my belly on the ground. Pretty background bokeh courtesy of evening light on the garden and trees in the background.
This is Pangong tso -Pangong means hollow- the highest lake in Ladakh at about 4300 mts above sea level. Flanked by massive peaks over 6500 mts high, the lake is 150 km long but only 4 km at its widest. It extends almost in a straight line way into Tibet; in fact only a quarter of the lake is in India.
It is very difficuilt to explain the beauty of the lake. Set amidst dramatic snow clad peaks, blue sky, white clouds, the waters change colours every now and then. Blue, green, brown and white are some of the colours you can see at the same time at different areas of the lake. Occasionally white gulls cruise above the lake.
One has to be there to realise that a thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Have a nice day, friends.

Unavoidable for life,
new life dawns on me:
It is a small sun with roots that I will have to water a lot,
and encourage him to play
his own attack against the tares.
Little and poor bread of solidarity,
flag against the cold, fresh water for the blood:
maternal elements that should not go away
from the heart.
And against melancholy, confidence;
against despair,
The people's voice
vibrating in the windows of this secret house.
Discover,
decipher,
articulate,

that now are our obligations
and who walk around telling us the steps:

from stealth to stealth,
from action to action,
from life to life

It seems my mech creations are increasing in size. At this rate I’m going to need another Lego room by next Tuesday. This one has some serious weight so I had to explore some interesting options for ankles and hips, but it does articulate for posing.
I uploaded this earlier in the week for sliders Sunday, but thought it would be an interesting addition to fence friday as well...
Fence detail from a gravesite in Munson Cemetery near Cambridge,IL. The pioneer cemetery is a prairie grasslands project, which means it is allowed to exist virtually untouched with the prairie grasses growing naturally within it.We came across this by accident-it is not well marked-and it is an interesting sight to see the tombstones rising out of the long grasses on this rolling hillside. This particular gravesite was a real treat-the Attwater family plot is surrounded by a very articulately designed metal fence within the flowing grasses. For anyone who enjoys nature and history,Munson Township Cemetery Prairie is a must-see during all the seasons....
Macro Monday’s theme this week is to take a pic under something while the camera is looking up.
Here’s Wall-e laying on his belly, peeking though a hole in a table in the yard. My camera is under the table, with the articulating screen flipped out and turned, as I tried for a good shot. A rather uncomfortable way to take pics!! Couldn’t really see the focus too well. Hope you like it. HMM! :-)

השודק(Qadushah) is the Hebrew word for raising or blessing, whose five characters in an abstracted way articulate the profile of the building. With the pronouncing of a blessing a profane object is raised or exalted. It is lifted out of the quotidian and made into something special. It is this act of making special that the building, in its everyday use, should allow for.

For my first photo of 2023, I noticed the morning light glinting off the keys of the typewriter at my desk. Many think of typewriters as a thing of the past, relics seen only in museums and old movies. This, however, isn’t the end of the story. There is a rapidly growing community of devotees. The typo-sphere encompasses enthusiasts from all age groups. These are folks from 9 to 99 who enjoy and appreciate these intricate mechanical marvels that never need software updates, never ask for a password, never nag about spelling or grammar … they just get out of your way and let you express your thoughts. Interruptions from text or email alerts never break your flow. You can freely articulate your narrative to paper with the hypnotic rhythm of the keys blocking all distractions. I include myself in this community, in fact this post was initially composed on the very machine from which this photo was taken.

Following on from yesterdays image this was taken a while later, As you may have seen from my previous image there were no bales in that field the farmer had been round during the day and taken them away.
With the light fading due to that cloud bank coming in from the right I decided I would not have time to wander over to where there were still some bales. My dilemma was the lack of any foreground, there was only one way to get any effective images, get on your knees and improvise in the stubble.
My tripod will not go that low so this is hand held at f16 at 16mm with stabiliser on , gosh I love that lens.and thank goodness for the articulating screen too. No filters.
I moved around the field and took a few more similar images until my knees said no more .
The bales are still down the far end of the field and the farmer has left the gate unlocked for me, so before he takes away any more I may pop out this evening and see what I can come up with.

I didn’t intend to photograph Luke. In fact, I hadn’t even noticed him. I was shooting my usual subjects when Luke ‘photobombed’ me. We struck up a conversation and he then offered to pose for me which I readily agreed to. He was quite articulate and genuinely interested in seeing the photos I took of him. We had quite a long chat and he told me about his life.
Luke, if you see this, cheers brother!
