I used my arteza alcohol markers to color one of my favorite stamps! Alcohol markers are new to me and a medium I need to practice. This is perfect for the challenge, trying something out of my comfort zone!

I’m experimenting today with different monoprint techniques. I used a sanded plexiglass plate for this one. Previously I’ve been using overhead transparencies. Before the red curtain is raised and he locks the lid on the shark tank, master martial magician (or self-proclaimed "Sensei Sorcerer") Brad Byrd attempts to fully submerge his new assistant Danielle, already in a burlap bag, in 100 deadly gallons of water, hoping that she wouldn't meet two hungry sharks. Well, it's past noon and the young lady hasn't had her lunch yet herself!

If you get a chance, I suggest you go for a walk in the Oregon Garden in Silverton, Oregon. It's a great place to walk and unwind. Today was a beautiful day so I brought my sketchbook. After walking I sat in the full sun on a bench and sketched what was in front of me.

I immediately considered this piece for this challenge as the surface is black but unusual, being glitter paper. I wanted the portrait to have a fashion theme, and the sparkly effect was perfect. The experience was very similar to working on sanded surfaces.

I’d like to use my paint sticks while painting on location, but I’m not sure what paper to use. This is a test to see how the paint sticks work on rough watercolor paper. I drew this in the studio from a reference photo I took at the Wooden Shoe Tulip farm northeast of us.
I like working loose on this larger paper, but I’m not crazy about all the texture. I think I’ll stick to a smooth hot press paper.

This is my second monoprint. The process I used was to draw and scrape back watersoluble media on an overhead transparency film and then use a roller on the back of a wet piece of paper placed over the overhead to transfer the media to the paper.
