Fort Pitt was built in 1758 during the French and Indian War, near the site of the abandoned and destroyed Fort Duquesne. The French built Fort Duquesne at the beginning of that war, and it became a focal point due to its strategic location on the Allegheny River, Monongahela River, and Ohio River. In 1755, General Braddock’s expedition attempted to take Fort Duquesne, but was repulsed at the Monongahela River. The French garrison ferociously attacked a British regiment in September 1758, but later destroyed and abandoned the fort with the approach of General John Forbes’ expedition in November. General Forbes’ expedition was successful because of the Treaty of Easton, when area American Indians agreed to abandon their alliance with the French. American Indians (primarily Delawares and Shawnees) made this agreement with the understanding that the British military would create a Trading Post, but the military would leave the area after the war. Of course instead, being strategically important, the British built a new fort on the site. They named it Fort Pitt, after William Pitt the Elder. This resulted in the 1763 rebellion of the local Delawares and Shawnees, called Pontiac's Rebellion. The Indians' siege of Fort Pitt began on June 22, 1763, but the fort was too fortified to be taken. During negotiation while under siege, the commander of Fort Pitt gave two Delaware emissaries blankets that had been exposed to smallpox. He hoped to infect the surrounding Indians, and end the siege. It is not sure if the attempt was successful, as the Native Americans broke the siege to attack Colonel Henry Bouquet’s relief force. Colonel Bouquet relieved the Fort on August 10th.

A exercise in collaboration, Communication Design students of this elective worked on projects in small groups as little as 2 and as large as 10. Through it all they functioned based on their expertise as photographers, stylists, photo retouchers, video editors, writers, and most importantly to this class- as art directors. Focus was on product advertising, Fashion editorial and music video production.

been working on the show reel for eons now, and therefore i've not been online very much in the last four weeks.

here, another sample of some of the stuff that's going on the reel, examples of which are found at vimeo. final versions will go on my website as well as on dvd.

commentary: as an experiment, i've edited a sequence taken from the dailies that i have from the feature film that i production designed last year, a film called LOVE ME FOREVER. this is my edit, not the official edit (i have yet to see the finished film or even a rough cut, for that matter).

ironically, there's very little production design in this sequence; i mean, it's there but this is all the footage that i have from the film.

hopefully, that will change soon.

i think i was able to procure about 4 or 5 dvds of dailies before i returned to los angeles. this is the first cut.

there is so much that is not seen in this sequence. alas, i don't yet have much footage that features the more heavily production designed sets.

since this sequence is edited from dailies, you will notice that the image resolution is very low and you will see the time code at the top and bottom.

the original format is 16:9, which i'm not sure if that will translate well to vimeo's format.

sebastian winterø did the cinematography - though, given the manner in which i may have butchered this sequence, he may not thank me for crediting him. ; )

more credits will be listed at a later time.

music is from angela mccluskey (her cover of 'love is stronger than death') and radiohead ('all i need' from 'in rainbows').

this is a frame from a video. you can watch it on vimeo.

Intégration Services Santé offers three levels of intervention which are addressed to very different targeted clienteles. Therefore the developed information architecture segments these three sectors to allow users paths to be better directed and simplified. The chosen visual is very human and focuses on the institution's staff. It releases a warm and reassuring discourse that is welcome in a context of health cares.

Visual identity developed for Coppa! Bar Expresso. The intervention for this project have been wider then usually The project owner ask me to not only create the visual identity of is Coffee but also to set the name of it. So a strong research of name finally ends up by the name Coppa! (mean cup in Italian). It give me the opportunity to not only shape the brand but to give it a all personality The name Coppa was strong enough itself to work an minimalist visual approach that put the name in front of the graphic design. This project have been pilot by Jean-Maxime Brais.

Visual identity developed for Collège des Hauts Sommets. The concept combine the crest and a flag. The flag is floating in the air. The flag is also often the highest element of a construction so it's illustrate well the «Hauts Sommets» mean «High Summit» of the establishment name. This project have been done with Vignola Communication.
