Bandon, Oregon possesses some of the most pristine beaches in the world.

Bandon is located on the Southern Oregon Coast and, a great place for a family vacation and, for those who love photography.

This image was taken during a pretty good rain storm. The sun is starting to set which adds to the dynamics of the clouds!

A classic 1938 Ford Convertible!

A patriotic scene...with the American Flag proudly displayed on this old vintage abandoned car.

Closer inspection of the Ford will yield a car for parts and not one that has been restored.

The car has been sitting in a field for awhile with the top down and, in a rainy Oregon location that is not good!

It’s summertime on the north shore of Oahu and that means next to no surf, but it usually also means spectacular sunrises and settled conditions. That equates to great shooting conditions for Sean’s shoreline prints and canvas. It all started out as wave photography ultimately, but ...

I do print my own nature canvas art right here in my home studio, but I also like to get out and shoot those images just as much as I can. I just took delivery of my camera water housing back from its maker Mike over at surfhousings.com who just performed a routine clean and check on it for me...

Glen House, or Glen, is an A Listed Building and country house in the Glen Estate belonging to the Tennant family, once frequented by Royalty.

It rests in a tranquil spot at Glen, in the parish of Traquair, Tweed Valley, Scottish Borders.

It is leased out for film shoots and conferences and has hosted seminars and other events on green finance and sustainability issues.

Original mixed media art on canvas. 18 individual hearts. Includes playing card, lace, buttons, a stamp and a tiny key.

I like the worn look of the background but it needs a bit more work yet!

Original mixed media art on canvas. Paint, gesso, old book cover, papers, and tiny key. The title comes from the hymn on the scrap of hymn book page.

I made this from a class I took with the very talented Kate Thompson on The Trodden Path. I am donating it to a silent auction that will benefit Cancer research. twistedfigures.blogspot.com

The painting

Owain Glyndŵr

"The Spirit Of Wales"

is currently on display, (and on long-term loan to,) the Owain Glyndwr Centre, Machynlleth, Powys, Wales.

The Owain Glyndwr Centre is the home of Wales' first Parliament established by Owain Glyndwr in 1404.

"at my nativity,

The front of heaven was full of fiery shapes,

Of burning cressets, and at my birth

The frame and huge foundation of the earth

Shaked like a coward."

- Owain Glyndwr - "Henry IV", Shakespeare

The few images we have of Owain Glyndŵr depict him as learned and kingly,

the consumate politician. But this is not how I imagine the Welsh rebel.

I see him as a wild guerrilla leader, haunted by the fact his wife Margaret,

along with two of his daughters, were captured and left to die in the Tower of London.

The painting evolved quite organically.

It started as an abstract, but as the paint started to dry I saw in the swirls a face in a forest.

The face was angry, purposeful and uncompromising. The name Glyndŵr sprang to mind.

Sean Davey is a coastal artist, well known for printing big seascape canvases and prints. Sometimes early in the year, on the north shore, there is a huge build up of sand from all the earlier season west swells, then the mid to late season delivers a bunch of north swells which break down these...

This is a Zentangle I created for a swap on ArtCanvas. After I drew the "strings" I began to see animals, and it then begged for color. It's amazing what can come out of a random drawing of lines!

Most of the time, artwork that has Gel Medium on it is applied in a manner that doesn't reflect the subject matter. I think it's critical to apply the Gel in a style that reflects the artwork in terms of stroke direction, pattern, and paying attention to the highlights and shadows. In the case of "Erotic Celebration" a piece that Dane Storrusten and I created (and is shown in my example), I have a wide border around the main art in the middle. I'm going to start with that and give it a special treatment. Note: This version of "Erotic Celebration" is a small version that we made to test the colors and preview the general style before making the 13' tall piece that went to Art Basel in Miami last year.

Develop your original art and print it out onto textured artist canvas. Stretch your canvas over your frame using a museum-wrap stretching technique. In this case, I constructed my frame out of 2" VG Fir with locking corners, corner gussets, tensioned framing staples, and hanging wire. Get your Gel Medium, brushes, and pallet knife ready.

It's not fully dry in this photo, but it's getting close. The white has now turned clear, and all that is left behind is the texture. This is what you want.

The border is all done, and now I'm going to begin the center of the piece. I used a brush for this part and applied long sweeping strokes to the background, the bottle, and the champagne spew.

I used the pallet knife to put a heavy texture around the outer border of the piece. The white color is the Gel Medium when it is freshly applied. It dries to a crystal clear finish so that all that is left is just the high and low spots and whatever texture is left behind from your application tool (brush, knife, etc.)

An original piece, created 4th December, 2018: I put my latest art (abstract) canvas on the wall today. Took a couple of photos, then layered them and added a dash of surreal creativity. Thanks for taking a look :-) All imagery in this composition is mine, including the horse.

Changing your texture to match the composition is crucial. The pallet knife texture is only on the border...when it jumps off to the center of the art, it changes to brush strokes. I used a hogs hair brush because I actually don't want a smooth finish. Brush strokes are intended to be visible.

Even though it looks pretty messy and blobby right now, when it dries, it looks like authentic brush strokes because the color underneath pushes forward through the thick areas.

Another view of the border after it has dried. This piece is hanging on our wall and in most cases you can't even tell I applied anything over the top of the art. When the light hits it though, it gives the illusion that this is an original piece rather than a digital reproduction.

You can see the smooth stokes for the background, and heavy textured strokes for the lips and highlights. My general method was to follow the highlights and apply the Gel really thick in those areas.

This is a view of a really heavy highlight I applied to the painted highlight on one of the lips. This looks like white right now, but eventually it will dry perfectly clear and show up as a high spot right over the top of the highlight. These little details make all the difference! Applying Gel Medium to your printed pieces is easy and fun. This whole process took about 15 minutes.

he looked at me with a black eye as if to say

man: you got cheek playing with brush and paint

when I ain't sure: an artist you 'aint.
