Class 017-19 2th Platoon, Bravo company drill sergeant candidates attending the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy conducted training on Victory Tower Oct 17, at Fort Jackson. Candidates completed the rope swing, rappelling towers, and rope bridges during the event with the help of USADSA drill sergeant leadership. Candidates were able to practice their leadership skills and teamwork throughout the training.

Drill Sergeant candidates assigned 2nd platoon, Company B exit a CS-gas filled chamber while conducting chemical defense training February 13, 2019 on Fort Jackson. The training taught candidates how to properly fit their protective mask to their face, ensure a proper seal was achieved and build their confidence in its ability to protect them from airborne hazards.

Members of the New Jersey Army National Guard portray enemy forces (also known as OpFor) during a movement to contact exercise at Fort Dix, New Jersey on 26 April 2017 during the Region One Best Warrior Competition. Soldiers taking part in the exercise moved from building to building, clearing rooms and retrieving the rescue dummy before being retrieved by friendly forces.

Class 017-18 5th Platoon, drill sergeant candidates attending the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy react to direct fire and conducted move and shoot, bounding, and react to contact drills at MOUT East/West Sept 12, Fort Jackson. The teams not only focused on bounding techniques, but also team cohesion and communication.
5th Platoon, class 017-18 Drill Sergeant Leaders train and test the drill sergeant candidates on their knowledge of modules at the USADSA PT field, Aug 23. Drill Sergeant candidates must be able to pitch and demonstrate modules, the DSLs complete a workbook and forms after every testing event. This helps DSLs track the progress of the candidates.
U.S. Army Drill Sergeant leaders welcomed 126 new drill sergeant candidates to the USADSA Jan 31, 2019. 126 of the most qualified NCOs were chosen to attend Drill Sergeant School, where they will now train to fulfill the role of utmost importance—the role of a Drill Sergeant. The 5th platoon vanguard candidates are currently in the red phase of the Drill Sergeant Academy Course.

U.S. Army Africa employee Vera Frater has worked for eight commanding generals. She is retiring after more than 17 years as a Department of the Army civilian employee. She has been in her current position for 13 years. Frater and her husband of more than 40 years will leave Italy for the sunny shores of Florida.
