This iconic tree in Arkansas has been photographed at sunset thousands of times. Unfortunately the tree is no longer standing as a result of a local storm and high winds taking it to the ground.

As the sun dips below the horizon, warm light washes over the rolling Ouachita Mountains near Mena, Arkansas. The fading glow casts a tranquil palette across the sky, bringing a quiet close to the day in this rugged southern range.

Driving through Arkansas and stopped at a pullout on the road. Pretty sure I could never find this place again since we were going down roads that according to the GPS didn't exist! Anyhow, we stopped and had a really nice lunch next to this pond.

 

There's some beautiful spots in Arkansas but you'll need a real sense of adventure to find them!

Highway 62 going east and west, the bridge over the Arkansas River, the Port of Muskogee is seen through the bridge. I may be landlocked in Oklahoma, but this navigation system using the Arkansas River with the locks and dams does connect me with the Gulf of Mexico and the world. Wide thoughts though the Wide Angle lens.

It was a beautiful morning, so beautiful I thought I heard Gordon McRae singing in the distance. :-)

In a scene straight out of Colorado, BNSF 9010 rolls 12,000 tons of coal loads off of Rich Mountain picking up speed into the curve at Eagleton. The last KCS snowfall on Rich Mountain occurred on this morning in late January 2023, which dumped 3-4 inches of the white stuff making a picture perfect scene with a sunny morning C-KCSH-25 in the Ouachita Mountains of Northwestern Arkansas.
