Old Dutch houses at the museumpark Archeon. These are replicas from houses built in the early fourteenth century. (Edam and Utrecht, The Netherlands.)
This photo was taken today. Nobody was there... except for some chickens and me.

You are standing on the hill
All looking eyes, you always thrill
Your skin exposed in the mist
Trembling, as it is slowly kissed
By desire that does fall
It wants your beauty, it want it all To feel the excitement, feel the thrill
Of making you wet, upon the hill
Pelicans are a genus of large water birds that make up the family Pelecanidae. They are characterised by a long beak and a large throat pouch used for catching prey and draining water from the scooped-up contents before swallowing. They have predominantly pale plumage, the exceptions being the brown and Peruvian pelicans. The bills, pouches, and bare facial skin of all species become brightly coloured before the breeding season. The eight living pelican species have a patchy global distribution, ranging latitudinally from the tropics to the temperate zone, though they are absent from interior South America and from polar regions and the open ocean. Pelicans frequent inland and coastal waters, where they feed principally on fish, catching them at or near the water surface. They are gregarious birds, travelling in flocks, hunting cooperatively, and breeding colonially. Four white-plumaged species tend to nest on the ground, and four brown or grey-plumaged species nest mainly in trees. The relationship between pelicans and people has often been contentious. The birds have been persecuted because of their perceived competition with commercial and recreational fishing. Their populations have fallen through habitat destruction, disturbance, and environmental pollution, and three species are of conservation concern. They also have a long history of cultural significance in mythology, and in Christian and heraldic iconography. 54324
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.

[Listen]
Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with her drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run
Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had and what was left after that too, oh
Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height by someone who should know better than that
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run

I walk by some waterfront apartment complexes, where there are tree-lined streets. Lately, the trees are alive with these lesser goldfinches - but a major attraction for them to the area is a very nicely stocked feeder on one of the decks. This fellow was watching many of his compatriots vying for the feeder access. He soon took off for his shot at it. Near the Willamette in downtown Portland Oregon.

There are so many factors that contribute to the colors of the sunset over the ocean. My preference is the ones that are softer, in more pastel shades. This moment was captured seconds after the sun no longer was visible using a long exposure with movement. The flocks of birds are a common sight at this glorious hour. It's as if they were gone for the day and now at sunset know it's time to head home. I never tire of this experience, and it's the perfect ending to any day.
Wherever you are, I'll always make you smile

At Pashley Manor Gardens you will discover 11 acres of beautiful borders and vistas – the culmination of a lifetime of passion for gardening, an appetite for beauty and an admiration of the tradition of the English Country garden. These graceful gardens, on the border of Sussex and Kent, are family owned and maintained – visitors often express delight at the attention to detail displayed throughout and the intimate, peaceful atmosphere.
All the ingredients of the English Country Garden are present – sweeping herbaceous borders, ha-ha, well maintained lawns, box hedges, espaliered rose walk, historic walled garden, inspiring kitchen garden, venerable trees and the Grade I listed house as a backdrop. The gardens are a haven for wildlife – bees, butterflies and small birds as well as moor hens, ducks and a black swan. Then, of course, the plants! Borders overflowing with perennials and annuals – the look changing through the seasons, but always abundantly filled, and each garden ‘room’ planted in a different colour theme.
Pashley is also renowned for fantastic displays of tulips, roses and dahlias. Our annual Tulip Festival features more than 48,000 tulips this year! During Special Rose Week over a hundred varieties of rose swathe the walls, climb obelisks and bloom in flower beds. Then in late summer our Dahlia Days event transforms the gardens once more with bountiful, brightly coloured dahlias in every border and pot.
Add to all this a Café and Terrace with excellent garden views, serving delicious homemade lunches, scones and cakes; Sculpture and Art Exhibitions; a Gift Shop with Plant Sales; and a friendly, knowledgeable team waiting to welcome you, and the recipe for a wonderful day out is complete.

the winding, steep streets are too narrow for vehicles in many parts, while the only sound to accompany your footsteps during a stroll may be that of the call to prayer.
On a bright day, the sun's rays bounce off sandstone-coloured walls and occasionally, you'll pass by a decaying three-floored Ottoman-style home, its wood-planked walls looming precariously over the street, or the open shutters of a teahouse with a group of old men sipping cups of Cay inside.
The old cobbled streets held plenty of other surprises: unexpected glimpses of well-known structures in the gaps between the decrepit collapsing traditional houses; gravestones on the side of the road, marking an ancient cemetery; a ruined stone arch hinting at an even older structure, all interspersed with modern hotels built in the traditional Turkish style to preserve the aesthetic appearance of the streets.
Osteospermum and daisies are very similar flowers. Osteospermum actively and luxuriantly blooms all summer and the first half of autumn until frost. Among the color options of the flowers are orange, pink, lilac, purple, purple, white. Often the paint is not monophonic, but turning into other shades.
The lush buds of the Cape daisy open at low air temperature. The corollas are about 5 cm in diameter. When grown in shaded areas, the osteospermum grows up to 100 cm, in sunny areas — up to 50 cm. The plant perfectly tolerates even sudden changes in weather conditions. It prefers regular watering, light soil, and open areas....
It looks like its northern sister, the white chamomile,
with osteospermum petals around the middle
, a flower from distant hot countries, from Africa,
blooms from July to November with heavenly colors.
The color is white, pink, orange, purple,
they need more warmth and a lot of light,
a little moisture and care, as well as a sea of affection -
the eyes look at them from under the delicate petals and smile at us ... A miracle!
The creeping thistles (Cirsium arvense) are flowering everywhere right now. They are very popular among bees and butterflies but I had never seen a cricket on it before. This great green bush cricket didn't stay put for long as the bee was too annoying.
During my visit to see the Large Blue again I spotted these two on the top of a grass stem.
I took a couple of photos at distance with a telephoto first to make sure I did not disturb them, before moving closer with the macro.
It was actually after taking most of the photos before I realised they were not actually attached, even those taken with the telephoto.
I then started thinking silly thoughts that perhaps as the male was so much older than his beautiful female perhaps he had lost his libido (something all of us old blokes have to look forward too)!!
Then images of an old rock star with a beautiful girl so the title of my blog posting was 'Like a Rolling Stone'.
I do think that mating had actually taken place as the female was content to stay there with the male until he flew off eventually. I guess I found them as the coupling had completed.
10 years ago when I last saw the Large Blue I also then found a mating pair with the male being much older than the female.
