The Oslo Opera House, also called Operahuset in Norwegian, stands out for its incredible architecture and is like a treasure of culture in Oslo, Norway. When we stepped inside, we saw clean lines, simple beauty, and lots of natural light – it's like the sun was invited to the party! Right at the center of this cool place is the Main Auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,364 seats. Just like in most well-known opera houses in both big and smaller cities, they also claim to have the best acoustics an artist can dream of. They say that they used the best materials and thought really hard about the angles to make sure that when someone sings, plays music, or talks on that stage, you can hear every little detail. We were happy to believe it, and we would have loved to stay for a performance to check it out. However, after a month of traveling, we had a schedule to take the ferry back to Germany and then drive back home. Well, anyhow, it gives us an excuse to return to Norway and Oslo to verify it - Operahuset, Oslo, Norway
Wales
Over a long period of time we’ve had a bit of a love affair with Wales and had many a holiday in North and South Wales. We have walked most of the coastline and climbed more than a few of the hills and mountains. That was done whilst we had good health however the ravages of time have taken a bit of a toll and now it’s not possible to do these wonderful walks and climbs. One thing we were always blessed with was the weather, just terrific. One disappointment, had a computer crash that destroyed many 1000’s of images. C'est la vie, those things happen, now move on.
Best wishes Patrick

Architectural details, New York Botanical Gardens
We began our recent trip with a short visit to New York City. This gave us a chance to visit with relatives there and to break up the jet-lag-inducing flight to Europe. Because the visit was short — we were only in New York for three nights before we flew on to London — we took it easy and didn't try to see too much this time. We hung out near our Manhattan hotel, walked a lot, went out to eat, and made one longer trip to the The Bronx to visit the New York Botanical Garden.
The Garden is spectacular, very large, and full of interesting things to see. Unfortunately, we were there on a typical August New York Day... which many of you may know means 90+ degrees and near-100% humidity. Our first stop was indoors, to see a small exhibit devoted to O'Keeffe paintings from her visit to Hawaii. In the building shown in this photograph there was a companion presentation that featured some of same plants and flowers that were the subjects of her work on the Islands. Needless to say, inside this greenhouse-like structure on a hot humid New York day... it was even hotter and more humid! We stuck it out for a while, but we eventually had to go back outside. As we did so, we got a bit of light-softening overcast, and I made a few photographs of the forms and textures of this remarkable building

Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus is the main railway station in Mumbai. It was built in 1887 by the British and used to be known as Victoria Terminus.
Sometimes I came across interesting shapes where I was not expecting. This was taken in a resturant at Ranakpur where we took break for lunch.
Interior of one of the oldest surviving cathedrals in the world. A sight that astounded the medieval and modern pilgram alike!

This beautiful garden tomb was built in the memory of the powerful prime minister of the weak Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah.It was built by Safdarjung's son Nawab Shuja-ud-Daulah of Awadh in 1753-54.This is probably the only monument of any consequence built after the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and is known as the "Last flicker in the lamp of Mughal architectue"Although it is not on the regular tourist map it is well worth a visit.
